The sound of a palm meeting a cheek resonated louder than the music itself. Not just Wes, even Echo was shocked when Pearl slapped her. Disgust was evident on her face. Echo opened her mouth to speak, but words had abandoned her, so she clamped her mouth shut.
It wasn’t her fault, but Echo knew she deserved it. The slap on her face was waiting to happen. If not for Pearl, Echo might have slapped herself one day. Things had gone out of her hands today. Echo just hoped Bo hadn’t seen what just happened, because she wouldn’t be able to explain the sudden kiss without feeling guilty. Furthermore, Echo would be the one standing between two friends--Bo and Wes. If Bo saw Wes kissing her, she would not only be hurt by Echo, but also angry at Wes.
