Bo was dreaming about Ricky. She was totally in love with him and just him being near her made her feel soaked in sweat and other things dripping down her thighs.
Ricky was just the person she needed in her lonely life, who made her feel loved and wanted. She was important to Ricky, and that showed. The fondness with which he looked at her and the warmth in his touch did insane things to her heart, and Bo starts to lose control over her mind. Bo appreciated how much Ricky adored and cared for her.
Nevertheless, her sweet and wet dream was interrupted by a female voice, hauling her out of her dreamy experience.
"Damnit!! Snap out of it already. You're making me feel horny." she heard the voice say.
Bo was so confused at that moment that, without putting much thought into it, she lied to the girl that she was having a nightmare.
However stupid it may sound, she didn't put much thought into it. Because Bo did not want to share what she had been dreaming about with an unknown person. Moreover, she had to save herself from the embarassment too.
But that girl was no fool, and she knew Bo was lying. Because then she replied, "Wish I could share that nightmare with you. Quite hot, it was."
At that moment, Bo was so much in a daze that she could hardly even remember her name, let alone that of an unknown girl. However, soon she remembered that girl had introduced herself a few hours ago.
Her name was Echo. It was a bit unusual name, and therefore it was easy for her to remember. Furthermore, the girl itself was a little unusual. Bo liked the brief interaction they had, when they introduced themselves to each other. The girl looked a little weird, however, she was lively and her voice sounded melodiously chirpy.
Bo was sure Echo was the kind of a person who could light up the room with her presence. She must have lot of friends who adored her, just the opposite of how Bo was. She barely had any friends.
Echo looked at her very keenly, and something about the look on her face was making Bo feel a little nervous. Anxious too.
"You look.." Echo took a long pause before she said, "s*x-starved." and started to laugh hysterically.
Bo was an introvert, and she barely had any friends, perhaps not even a fist full. Ricky and his friends were her friends too. Carl, her boss, was someone she opened up to, and apart from them, she also had Em, her roommate, who was always in somebody else's room.
That girl was a hardcore party freak. Her bedroom was always vacant because she often resided in somebody else's apartment. The only time Bo found her in their shared apartment was when Em wasn't feeling well.
Then she had Boston too, who was funny and she liked talking to him. One of the first friend she made when she started working here.
Bo still wondered how her boss became one of her closest person, because Carl wasn't someone who was friendly with everyone. He was approachable, as a boss, but beyond that nobody knew him on personal level. Well!! Neither did Bo, yet they were close. She knew she can count on him anytime.
For Bo, it felt like a decade had elapsed, that she had seen someone laugh so heartily. It felt good to watch Echo laugh so freely that it made her smile too. Without her realizing, a smile tugged on her lips and her eyes were trained on the person in front of her. Even though Echo was laughing at her, making fun of her situation, but Bo couldn't help but smile.
However, before Bo could contemplate anything, she found Echo's lips were on hers. And for some odd reason that she couldn't make sense of, the kiss did not feel offensive. It gave her a feathery ticklish feeling, which for her was a kind of weird experience.
Yet, Bo pushed Echo as she realized that a girl was kissing her, and it may also have been the other way around.. a tiny bit. For a moment, Bo did kiss her back. She knew she wanted to, but Echo did not need to know that and she dare not tell another soul about it either.
But.. Hey! She had a loving boyfriend. Then why was she kissing this girl she barely knew? Bo couldn't help but wonder.
"What do you think you are doing?" Bo snapped at her. She was utterly confused because the bloody kiss didn't feel disgusting. In fact, her reaction to the kiss seemed consented.
Ironically, Bo felt like she had yelled at Echo against her own feelings. If truth be told, Bo wanted it to continue-- even if its for a more like a few seconds. And that part was the most frightening.
Echo tweezed out a strand of hair from her mouth, "Do you have a hair problem, Bo? Phew!" Echo coughed and spat, trying to remove the hair sticking to her mouth.
"That's not mine." Bo snapped embarrassingly and averted her eyes. Why was she being weird around Echo, Bo questioned herself. But, she needed a moment away from Echo to think about what would be the answer to that. Being around her wasn't helping and she kept embarassing herself and lying unsucessfully.
"Of course, it is. You are the one I kissed just now," Echo shrugged her shoulder as she stated the obvious and winked at Bo.
Bo bit her tongue. Anyone could tell just by looking that Bo had kissed her back. Bo blushed hard, but in an attempt to hide her embarrassment, she yelled, "Whatever," and shot back. "What are you doing here?"
"I came looking for you. You've been gone for a long time, and we were getting worried about you. So, Boston told me where you could possibly be," Echo alleged.
"But why did you come here and not him?" Bo quizzed. "Anyways.. let's get out of here."
"Wait!" both squawked together.
"Is that water?" Bo shrieked loudly and gasped. Her hands were on her chest and her mouth was slightly agape, as she was trying to make sense of what she was looking at.
"Yes," Echo muttered in a low voice.
Bo gasped again, "What happened here?" she tried to step out of the room.
Echo grabbed Bo by her forearm, "Don't." she sounded worried.
Bo yanked her arms out of her grip. She looked at Echo inquisitively, waiting for the answer about how the water reached up to the second floor in such a short time.
Echo took a long pause, pondering over something, and Bo was getting impatient. "Okay! I'm heading out to see it for myself."
"A trailer.." Echo gulped. She cleared her throat, "A trailer came visiting your store, Bo." Echo grinned clumsily.
By this moment, Bo was beyond annoyed with the suspense that Echo was building. She would not let Bo step out of the room and wouldn't tell her either.
Bo snapped at her, "Do you speak human language?"
"I do. Can you sit down and hear me out, please." Echo calmly requested. "Please.. Bo." she earnestly insisted.
Bo reluctantly sat down, "Tell me what is happening, please?" she pursed her lips.
"Okay! Fine. Calm down." Echo huffed. "You were gone for a long time, and Boston asked for my help to look for you. We found you unconscious on the floor, and you were running a high fever..."
"What?" Bo interrupted. She was shocked to hear what Echo said to her.
But then again, Bo did not remember going to sleep and why would she even do that? The last thing she recalled was talking to Ricky over the phone, and then before she knew it, she was dreaming and when she woke up from sleep, Echo was sitting in front of her.
"You were bleeding, Bo," Echo raised her voice at her. "It looked bad. Well! Boston assumed it was because you may have been on your monthly periods, and I let him believe that. But I also know that this is not just awful, but also a damn serious issue."
"What are you talking about?" Bo argued. She was further confused as to what Echo was implying.
"Are you suicidal, Bo?" Echo bluntly asked. Bo stood up with her mouth agape, "What the hell do you mean by that? Have you seriously lost your mind?"
Echo recounted, "Your thighs were scraped and bruised. Your wounds were oozing blood, and your clothes were soaked in them."
Bo reached out her hand to touch her thighs, and that is when she realized that she wasn't wearing her pants, and her thighs were wrapped in bandages.
"W-why a-am I not wearing any pants?" Bo scoffed and stuttered.
Echo picked up the pants in her hands, and it was soaked in blood for Bo to see.
Bo quickly drew out her causal clothes from her locker, and closed it with a loud clang, then changed into those fresh clothes.
"H-how bad are the bruises?" Bo solemnly queried, but received no reply from Echo. She kept staring at Bo with a grave expression pasted on her face.
Bo rolled her eyes and sighed, "Stop frowning. I am not trying to kill myself." Echo wasn't going to believe Bo. Because the wounds surely indicated that it was an attempt of self-harm.
Bo dropped her shoulder and slid down the wall, "You can't tell this to Boston, okay. I don't want him making fun of me."
"Tell me." Echo crouched down near her.
Bo bit her lips before she finally spoke, "It happened when things got heated a little. I mean.."
"You had a fight with someone?" Echo gazed at her with wide eyes. "A customer or is it that somebody's stalking you, Bo?" she looked extremely anxious.
Echo remembered Boston telling her about Bo not talking to anyone and mostly keeping to herself. Even if somebody troubles her, Bo wouldn't promptly tell anyone.
"No." Bo frantically shook her head. "What I meant was, while I was having.. with my.." she blabbered, then hid her face in between her palms.
"Believe me when I say I am not trying to kill myself and I am definitely not depressed," Bo assured Echo. "I can't even dare to think to this extent."
"Then what is that I saw?" Echo arched her brow in question.
"Don't ask." Bo shut her eyes tightly, "It is... something. I mean..something personal." She pleaded with her eyes for Echo to not ask her any further question on this topic.
Echo went silent for some time, and Bo couldn't look at her. She was shy as well as oddly nervous. And, she knew the nervousness was not because that girl was unknown to her. It was different.. maybe it was her proximity or the way she spoke.
Echo sounded friendly to her, and she was making Bo feel comfortable and nervous at the same time.
"Okay, Bo. I won't ask anymore. Stop lying, because you are terrible at it," Echo calmly replied. However, the calmness did not show on her face. Frankly, she looked nervous and maybe bothered too, and Bo noticed it. "But, you must take care of yourself. You fainted and were running a fever, Bo." Echo frowned and touched her forehead.
Bo's heart skipped a beat, with the touch of her cold hand and also because of the worried look that she could see lingering on Echo's face.
"Thankfully, the fever has gone down now." Echo smiled a little. "Just imagine how Boston must have felt when he saw you lying unconscious, alone in this.. place?" she grimaced and looked around the small room they were at. "And.. what if we wouldn't have found you in time?" Echo queried, still frowning.
"Sorry," Bo muttered and smiled. She genuinely meant it because Echo cared, and it showed on her face and in her voice.
"Ah! That was so sweet." Echo placed her hand on her chest. "You are forgiven, Ms. Bo." she grinned at her.
"Thank you," Bo replied back, maybe a little flirtatiously. Only to reprimand herself, first for wordlessly accepting that she was lying, then flirting with Echo.
Never in her entire life would Bo have expected to meet this girl, not even in her wild imagination. A girl with the crazy mischievous smile on her perfectly carved and pierced lips, brown hair, and deep blue eyes that can sink you in it.
This crazy girl was different, and Bo knew it. Echo had succeeded in making friends with Bo within a few hours.. or to be precise, in her second meeting.
"Oh shucks!" Bo exclaimed as she suddenly remembered something. "Are you gonna tell me how was it possible that the water had reached up the second floor?" she spread out her hands in question dramatically.
"Erm.. about that?" Echo bit her lips. "A trailer, which, apparently, was supposed to rescue us came in. But instead, it tore down the ground floor, and we came crashing down."
Echo went silent, waiting for Bo's reaction. But Bo kept glaring at her, "You are joking, right?" she chuckled slightly. "Bad joke."
"No. I'm not." Echo shook her head. "You were unconscious and may not have realized it. But-"
"Are we on the ground floor?" Bo shrieked while she gasped loudly, and her mouth went agape, and she covered it with both of her palms. She was still trying to figure out if this was all a prank Echo was playing on her.
"I am not joking, if that's what you are wondering, Bo," Echo carefully repeated again to assure her.
Bo stood up abruptly, "Then I must go out. They might need my help."
But, Echo pulled her back. "No, you can't. You have fresh bandages on your thighs, and the water has reached almost up to knee length."
"Do you think I care about my wound right now?" Bo yelled. "Not at all. These people are my friends, and I work with them. That is why I can't leave them alone. And what about those people, whom I had convinced to stay back and that we would take care of them? I can't, and I won't run away from my responsibilities."
Bo understood she needed to rest and treat her wound. But her responsibility towards others was undoubtedly her first priority at that crucial moment.
Furthermore, she had to know what was happening out there. Hiding inside a small room and taking care of herself wasn't what Bo was going to do.
It was unlike her to think just about herself when other people were in such distress.
