Fourteen Kylie My feet thump against the police station steps. I thrust the doors open and storm inside, glancing around for a familiar face. Telephones jangle in the background. Officers storm back and forth, moving between the criminals in the holding cells and the civilians reporting them. I let out a breath of relief when I see Noah rounding the corner, drying his hands on his pants. His eyes land on mine and he has the decency to look sheepish. I stride toward him. “What’s going on?” “Are you his guardian, ma’am?” The officer escorting Noah grabs his shoulder and nudges him forward. “Let’s talk at my desk.” We all settle into the chairs and I face the policeman.
