**Viktor**
“What is our oldest standing prophecy? My interests lie in the oldest prophecies that haven’t come true yet.” I said calmly. I am actually most interested in our oldest unconfirmed prophecy. It has been ages since I read up about it. “The most ancient ones are kept in our vault. If you cannot find what you are looking for outside of the vault, you must get permission from the council to enter and do your research.” Ozias had relaxed but he’s still not convinced that I don’t have an ulterior motive. “Then by all means assemble the council.” The council consists of four elders, one being Ozias, his mate Atara, Bellonia, and her mate Valerius. They are now the oldest of our kind. They have kept our kind secret for centuries. The humans have come close to discovering our existence. “Very well, I’ll send for you when they have arrived.” Ozias left. I continued searching through texts, anything that could give some guidance. There were only splinters of information about the prophecy that I needed to read. One fragment saying a weeping woman would end our existence. Another calling her a savior and the bringer of peace. And another still says this woman extinguish an entire… but this fragment of information was incomplete. I must see the complete prophecy. Or speak to the person who heard the prophecy first hand.
At dusk the council members assembled in a small room in the dungeon of Ozias castle. A small office with a round table at its center. The air was cool, a slight scent of moss. There was no electricity in the dungeon, the room was lit by candle light. We began the meeting with talk about our clans and reminiscing about our pasts. Bellonia asks, “What are you researching, Viktor?” “I want to read our oldest prophecies. I’m not interested in completed prophecies.” I must not tell them about Dezmond. That has to remain secret for the time. I need to understand before I ask for any guidance. Valerius is watching me intently. “Do you have a specific prophecy in mind?” He’s testing me.
“No, just any of the old ones. It would be amazing if I was able to speak to an oracle. To help me understand prophecies themselves.” I keep my composure. “Are these interests new?” Atara was smirking at me. She has an incredible ability to read people. However she is an old friend, hopefully she still trusts me. “Somewhat. I have always been curious but I didn’t think any earlier timing would have been appropriate.” I’m watching Atara, she blinks and relaxes. I take that as her saying, I don’t believe you but I’ll let this play out. Ozias speaks next. “Viktor, please excuse us while we discuss and come to an agreement.”
I waited in the archives for their decision. If they refuse, I may have to speak to the council honestly. I hope it doesn’t come to that. I do not want to put Dezmond or his potential mate in danger. The clans are civil with each other, but not fully trust since the Hybrid Wars. Some clans were on opposing sides. Bellonia and Velerius were on the opposite side that Ozias and I was on. We fought ages ago. That is the balance of the council, our views still differ.
Atara finds me reading some ancient scroll. " The council has reached an answer. Ozias will be here in a moment. I wanted to ask you what you are really up to. I know you. I do not believe you are just interested. I believe you have a reason.” Atara was looking at one of the shelves. “I am not sure. If my suspicions are validated, I will inform the council myself. I cannot say at this time. I must keep my clan safe.” Atara is looking at me now, " I knew it. You’re secret is safe with me, Ozias already knows my suspicion of your motives. He also knows you very well but he and I trust you immensely. I will tell you He and I have kept our suspicions quiet from the council.” Ozias arrived.
“My dear friend, you the council has agreed to allow you access to the vault. You can begin your research.”
