How will I know when I have found the key? It’s probably best to check the doors. As I walk through the hallway door, I immediately noting the first door on the right is now open. I slowly push the door open. Inside is an arm chair sat upon a round red and gold area rug. The room was cool and smelled of moss. Bookshelves lined this room as well, small artifacts were on some of the shelves. The artifacts in here must go with the prophecies in here. Strangely there was a flower pot on a shelf. I walk over and and see that there is soil in the pot. And next to the pot is a small cluster of seeds. The scroll behind the pot appears to be about the tree people, the spires. I suppose I can start here. We vampires once protected the spires.
The Spires were the tree people that we wiped out during the war. Their leader had been captured before the war began and they had no leader. Their spires had asked the vampires for help finding their leader. Communicating with them was difficult because most of them could not speak as we do, their leader was fluent. What we could piece together was that their leader had walked to the river. Some spires say he was asked to meet there but they did not know who he was meeting. One of the saplings told us that they had seen an outsider. However to the spires, most human like creatures look so similar that they could really tell what it was. The sapling did also say there was flashing lights on the riverside. Two days later the fire wiped them out. We weren’t able to help them.
That makes me think that witches may be involved. I don’t want to make assumptions. I need to keep an open mind. The seeds were sent to Atara with a note attached. That note is not with these scrolls. I remember when she received them. At the time I didn’t know what it was. Her butler, Jones, had brought the pot in while we were having tea. This wasn’t out of the ordinary because Atara loved gardening and can grow anything. What was out of the ordinary was her reaction to the note. Her eyes filled with tears and she excused herself. She came back after some time and was back to herself again. When I asked what was wrong she told me, “An unexpected gifted something special, I was saddened to discover that I must wait for the conditions to be just right before I can plant the seeds.” Did she have sprite seeds this whole time? If they are sprite seeds, when will the conditions be right? How glorious would it be to see our old friends return.
The next scroll I grabbed was not a prophecy, it was a letter from a witch spy. The letter was addressed to Ozias. That’s interesting, I didn’t know he was successful in recruiting a witch from the war. We had discussed aspirations that we would find someone we could trust. It reads.
Dear Sir
This is the most rebellious thing I have ever done. I’m afraid I’ll be discovered. I only joined Cornelia at the request of Cat. Cat believed in me, so now I must believe in myself. Cat thought her sister would calm down and see reason. She underestimated Cornelia’s hatred. When Cornelia decides something is wrong or offends her, she has to destroy it. I have heard rumors the she is trying to collect something. But no one knows what is to be collected, not who she’s collecting for. It’s said she has a meeting set up. And that this isn’t the first thing she has collected for this person. Anyway, the real reason I’m writing is to warn you that something big is being planned as retaliation for Cornelia being exiled. Murdering her sister wasn’t enough. She has a grudge on those who sided with Cat. Please, help save them. The warriors have been instructed to perfect their lethal spells. Cornelia has also instructed a small group to learn fire spells, and not simple ones. The one that need magic to extinguish it. I am sending you and your mate these charms, please wear them for protection. I’ll do what I can from here. Ill write again when I can. All my faith,
Your friend Gemma
Gemma? If I’m not mistaken, Gemma was Cat’s daughter. Gemma lost her life in the fire, the same that wiped out the spires. That fire was devastating. The spire coexisted with a drake clans. The spires helped shield the hatchings from larger creatures while the mothers recovered. Most, if not all drakes traveled to hatch their young with the spires. They had a long standing friendship and tradition surrounding the hatching process. No one has seen a single drake since then. Absolutely heartbreaking to lose such wonderful creatures. The drake were feared my most but those who got to know them as I did miss them terribly. They were fearsome but tremendously loyal. I had secured their alliance just a week before the fire. I cherish my time with them, I became good friends with their king, Rocco and queen Ember. I have often wondered, how they hatched their young before the spires. Rocco once said there were rituals that needed to take place during mating season and hatching season. Ember was very elegant but extremely sad. The previous hatching season, their egg didn’t hatch. Rocco told me that she was sad because she believed that the egg would hatch on its own time. Drake eggs that didn’t hatch were taken deep into the forest and left there. Bad eggs tend to get smelly. A click snaps me back, and for the first time I see a large chest by the door. I don’t remember that being there when I walked in. The top is open. This chest seems to be made lava stone and gold. I open the chest and gasp. I can’t believe my eyes!
