The light of the sun streamed through the window. I looked down at Gerrie to see her fast asleep. I would keep my promise no matter what. How could have gone through that, having everything you have ever loved ripped away from you by something you didn't know even existed. Horrible, I know.
Sliding out of bed, I made my way to the bedroom attached to the rooms. There were four toothbrushes. I went ahead and picked the blue one. Blue had been my favourite colour since I was a child. I know that the colour is connected to some memory of mine, but every time I try to remember it, I get a killer headache. Since then, I've stopped trying. After brushing my teeth I jumped into the shower, letting the water cleanse away my worries for the day.
With a towel around myself, I opened the wardrobe door to find a maid outfit. I fitted me perfectly. Kassi woke up soon after, sending me a sleepy smile before going to the bathroom. The other girls finally got up and in a few minutes, we were all ready.
"So what do we do know?" Gerrie asked.
We all looked at Kassi, we could tell already that she would be the leader of the group. Pondering for a moment, Kassi opened her mouth to talk when the someone knocked on the door.
"Come in!" She shouted.
Bess came in with a large trolley behind her.
"It's good to see you girls already and up for business." she smiled, glancing at each of us. Her gaze lingered on me for a moment before continuing.
She handed us each an apron and a list of people.
"Gerrie, you will be taking care of Lord Herson's daughter, Bianca, a lovely human." Gerrie gulped before nodding.
Bess turned to Taylor, "You'll be assisting Maxwell, Bianca's older, vampiric brother."
Turning to me, she spoke, "You'll be taking care of Lady Jane, a beautiful vampire."
I nodded as Bess turned to Kassi, "A lastly, Kassi you will be assisting the King."
Gerrie let out a gasp, Taylor raised her eyebrows in surprise and me, well I choked on the air in my lungs.
Bess rolled her eyes, "Don't be like that. He is a sensible vampire, not some horrible tyrant. Anyway, he's not in his room half the time."
Kassi nodded and didn't even seem to wince as Bess turned around and left.
"A-A-Are you okay?" Gerrie stuttered.
Kassi nodded once more before leaving the room. We all followed suit and I made my way to Lady Jane's room, knocking softly.
After I waited to no response, I entered the room. It was a pale red colour with maroon embroidered curtains and wine coloured sheets.
I walked in closing the door behind me. The room was already clean and I still had an hour, I might as well walk around.
I had a quick look around checking the bathroom for much mess. Whoever this Lady Jane was sure did like a cleanroom. This would probably take ten minutes for a basic clean so I decided to doss around the room for a bit. I searched around the room for anything. As expected there was nothing.
I walked to the closet, pulling the doors apart and gasping surprise. There were rows of amazing clothes made of the finest materials. Lady Jane must be quite rich. I pulled one of the dresses off the rack. It was a knee-length dress with ribbing along the sides. It was far to perfect to be laying. It would be a cardinal sin for me not to try this one. I had an hour to kill off and this would be the perfect way to do it. But what if I got caught. After a few minutes of debating over it, I decided to try it on.
Glancing around the room I slowly peeled off the maid outfit I wore. Slipping on the dress, I looked at myself in the mirror. The plunging neckline not showing to much. It hugged my body perfectly. It stuck to me all the way down to my hips where it flared out.
Turning around and looking over my shoulder revealed an open back. I sighed before taking it up. How unfair is it the vampires have the privileged of owing such lavish clothes they rarely wear, and humans are left the tattered scrapped.
Setting the dress back on the hanger with a scowl on my face, I finished cleaning the to with a sour mood.
I stripped the sheets, putting on new ones. I cleaned up all the clothes from the floor and put them in the laundry basket. I finished my sweeping the floor and opening the windows and curtains to let air and sunlight in.
Glancing around the room to make sure it was as immaculate as when I had come in, I left.
I walked down the hallway to the room. I opened to the door to see Bertie and Taylor. I moved around so I was sat beside them. I plonked down next to Gerrie, "So how was it?" I asked.
Gerrie answered, "Rather nice actually."
I smiled, I had been worried about her really. I knew someone, Jessica and Gerrie reminded me so much of her.
"And you? " I asked Taylor.
She shrugged, "It was fine."
I nodded when the door flung open. There was Kassi covered in blood. She slouched against the door handle, panting.
What happened to her?
