The house felt too quiet after Nolan left.
Kylie wandered through the massive kitchen pretending she wasn’t distracted while rain continued dripping steadily from the ranch rooftops outside. Workers moved across the property repairing fencing and clearing storm debris, but the tension from earlier still lingered heavily in the air.
Truck tracks.
Cut fences.
Nolan’s expression when he heard about both.
None of it felt normal.
