After so much crying by the roadside, she finally decided to see her boyfriend and told him about it. She knew he would be heartbroken but she had no choice.
A cab pulled up in front her, and she stepped into the car, clutching her bag like a child.
Trying to not give away that she had been crying, she tried to keep her voice neutral as she told the driver the address.
The driver glanced at her from the rear mirror, but she looked away immediately so he wouldn't catch her red and swollen eyes.
The driver hit the road, and she let the silence of the car kill her as the memories of that night with Kenzie flooded her brain.
If only she had said 'No' to her aunt, she wouldn't be bawling her eyes right now and wanting to kick the air so bad.
Every part of her screamed 'No' when she and Kenzie shared that bed but despite her screaming on the inside, her body responded to his like it belonged to him.
It was too good to be true, and she felt ashamed right now, thinking back on how she felt and never wanting it to end.
Well, lucky for her, it did end, and she had an actual baby in her tummy now.
Twenty minutes later, the cab man stopped in front of the house and she paid then hopped out of the car.
She didn't bother with the door bell and entered the pass code of his door.
The moment she walked into the house, her jaw dropped when she saw the white stilettos on the floor.
She took off her shoes and continued inside. She wanted to call out his name but stopped when she saw the feminine clothes strewn across his couch: a short white cotton dress with a red blazer.
This time her brows pulled together as she hastened her pace upstairs. A part of her brain already analyzed the situation and knew what was going on, but another part of her brain didn't want to believe.
Unfortunately, the closer she drew to the bedroom, the less she believed the excuse she was making.
In the slightly opened door, a female giggled, and her heart sank in her chest.
She pushed the door open slowly, and her eyes widened in shock. Her boyfriend, Alex, was sitting on the bed, and her best friend, Bella, was straddling him, her hands all over his chest.
They both diverted their gaze to door when they heard it opening.
Bella's eyes met hers, and she rolled her eyes, her smile faded away as she slowly disengaged from Alex's hold. Alex's eyes widened, and he looked like he had been caught red-handed. He stood up, guilty, trying to explain, but she didn't want to hear it.
"Lawrencia, please listen..." Alex started, but she cut him off curtly.
"Don't bother, Alex. I think I've seen enough," Her voice was shaking with anger and hurt.
Bella smirked, her expression unapologetic.
"Well, well, well. Look who we have here," Bella said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Lawrencia felt like she had been punch in the gut, her breath knocked out of her. She didn't even feel guilty, what had she done to deserve this?
She took a step back, her eyes fixed on the scene before her. Alex took a step forward, trying to approach her, but she held up her hand, stopping him.
"Don't come near me, Alex. I need time to process this," Her voice was shaking with anger and hurt.
Bella rolled her eyes and hopped off the bed, her movement confident. "Oh, poor Lawrencia," She held her chest dramatically.
Lawrencia turned and ran out of the room, tears streaming down her face. She could hear Alex calling after her, but she didn't stop. She ran out of the house, not knowing where she was going or what she was going to do. All she knew was that she needed to get away from there.
As she ran out of the house, she felt like her whole world was crashing down around her. Her boyfriend and her best friend, the two people she trusted most, had betrayed her in the worst possible way.
She ran out of the house, tears streaming down her face, the tears blurred her vision and the world around became a haze. She didn't notice a car coming down the street. She didn't hear the screeching tires or see the panicked face of the driver. She just kept running, trying to escape the pain and betrayal she felt.
She tried to retreat her steps when she noticed the car, but it was too late.
The car hit her with a loud thud, and she felt herself flying through the air. She tried to cry out, but her voice was silenced by the impact. She landed hard on the pavement, and everything went black.
The driver jumped out of the car, screaming in horror.
As the driver stood in shock, a middle aged woman emerged from the backseat of the car. She looked scared, seeing her condition
"Get her into the car. Fast!" The woman instructed the driver, her face etched with concern.
**
Lawrencia's eyes opened slowly and met with an unfamiliar face. The woman was sitting beside her, a calm and collected expression on her face.
"Who...who are you?" Lawrencia stammered, trying to sit up, but an unexpected headache forced her back to the bed, earning a groan from her lips. Her mind was blank as she held her head in her hands.
"Don't try to move dear. You've been in an accident," The woman cooed, gently pushing her back down.
Lawrencia's memories came flooding back, her boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend, the accident...it all came rushing back.
Tears welled up her eyes immediately, she was beyond hurt, how could they do that to her?
"T...thank you," She said to the woman in tears and the woman sighed.
"Stop crying, or you'll just hurt yourself and your baby" The woman said calmly and Lawrencia's eyes narrowed.
Her baby? How did she know?
When the woman saw her reaction, she smiled knowingly.
"The doctor told me. You should be careful next time, you seems so lost when you ran into us, considering the fact that you're carrying a baby...
"Can you just stop talking about the baby, please?" Lawrencia cut in, in between tears and the woman frowned.
"What? Why? What about the father?" She asked, curiosity written all over her face.
Lawrencia didn't say a word, she just stared into space.
"Tell me. Did he reject? Did he deny the baby? Was that why you ran into us earlier?" She bombarded her with another set of questions again.
"The father? I haven't told him yet" She replied simply, not wanting to go deeper.
"Why?
"He's not someone I can reach. I'm sure he won't even accept, it was just a one night thing," Lawrencia replied and the woman mouthed an 'Oh'
"Do you mind telling me who he is? " The woman pressed further, searching Lawrencia's eyes for answers. She looked so anxious.
Lawrencia looked at her for some seconds before finally speaking up. "It's Kenzie, Kenzie Brown, the singer"
The woman's eyes widened in shock, and she sat straight, her back rigid. " Kenzie? My son? " The woman whispered out slowly.
Lawrencia's ear twitched at the sound of 'son'
She's Kenzie's mother?
