Chapter Two: The Velvet Skyline

Camron Reed’s Pov They played the last few notes of the song, and Camron set his drumsticks in his lap so he could grab his water bottle. They were working on a new song called “Beautiful Secrets.” It was a bit too pop for his taste, but Austin, their singer, insisted that the ladies would love it. And Austin loved to please the ladies. Camron brushed his curly black from his eyes. He needed a haircut. But between practice, parties and ditching the paparazzi, he hadn’t had the time.  “What do you think guys? One more time?” Austin asked.  “I don’t know man. I think it sounded good.” Gavin, the bassist, shrugged.  “Good isn’t good enough.” Austin complained.  “Come on man! It's nice outside today. Why don’t we end early and go for a run?” Gavin suggested.  “I’m down with that plan.” Camron chimed in. He stood up from his drum set and stretched his arms out above his head. They had been at it for a couple of hours. He was beginning to get a bit stir crazy. He didn’t like to stay indoors for very long.   “Alright. Fine. We’ll call it a day.” Austin put his hands up in defeat.  Ross, the lead guitarist laughed as he detached cords from his guitar. They all followed suit, putting their instruments away.  “You guys hungry?” Camron asked. He could hear his stomach grumble.  “Dude, you’re always hungry.” Gavin teased.  “You ought to get yourself a personal chef.” Austin laughed.  “Better be a little hottie.” Ross slapped Camron’s back as he walked past to put away some cords.  “That doesn’t sound like a bad idea.” Camron chuckled.  “You’re such a picky eater though. Might be tough finding someone who could cater to your neediness.” Gavin joked.  “Just because I have a taste for the finer things in life, doesn’t mean I’m necessarily picky.” Camron tried to defend himself but they all just laughed at him.  “Hey Ross, you wanna go to that café with the hot baristas?” Austin asked, grabbing his phone and keys. “The one by Stamford Bridge?” Ross replied eagerly. Austin nodded in confirmation. “Hell yeah man! Let’s go!”  “What happened to our run?” Gavin gave a pouty face jokingly.   “Hot babes or sweaty dudes? Hmm. I think I’ll go with the babes.” Ross gathered his things and left with Austin.  “Guess it's just you and me dude.” Gavin shrugged with a light chuckle.  “Guess so.” Camron grabbed his phone and sunglasses. “Where do you wanna go?”  “Up Emlyn Avenue?”  “There’s a lot of businesses down that way. Might be kind of busy this hour.” Camron shoved his hands in his pockets. He wasn’t really a fan of crowded spaces, or people for that matter.  “Come on, worry wart. We’ll be fine. Wear your hat and sunglasses and no one will recognize us.”  “Alright, fine. But any sign of paparazzi or reporters and I’m out.”  “Dude. I’m pretty sure you can outrun any lunatic with a camera. But alright.”  They walked out of the studio and Camron locked the door behind them. Camron tossed on his baseball cap and sunglasses and Gavin did the same. It was nice to roam around the city, but because of their recent fame, it was difficult to go anywhere without being recognized. Austin and Ross loved their new found fame. They reveled in it. Gavin liked the attention, but was much more tame in comparison. Camron came from a small town and enjoyed his privacy. However, maintaining that privacy while being famous proved to be difficult.  Camron and Gavin walked for a bit and stretched their legs and arms before they started to sprint. Camron focused on his breathing, the way his feet hit the sidewalk. He picked up the pace and Gavin followed. After a half hour or so they slowed their pace to a walk. There were large buildings surrounding them, but they provided some shade from the sun.  Camron could feel sweat dripping down his chest. He took a drink from his water bottle and almost choked when he saw a girl walk by. She was leaving one of the business buildings. Her hair was tied up in a loose bun, her chest bounced as she walked, her body curved in all the right places, and the heals she was wearing defined her long legs…  “Cam? You alright?” Gavin asked, before he followed his gaze. “Damn.” Camron laughed at his response and shook his head.  “I’ll race you back to the studio.” He turned around and started without Gavin, getting a head start. Gavin was still awe struck by the girl, who didn’t seem to notice them.  “Awe! Hey man, that’s not fair!” Gavin yelled after him trying to catch up.  Camron slowed down a bit, before he reached his car that was parked outside of the studio. It was clear that Camron was the winner of the race. He was leaning against his car, waiting for Gavin, when his phone went off in his pocket.  Austin: Hot party tonight with barista babes. Top of the Velvet Skyline Bar.  Ross: You guys got to come! Our names are on the VIP list!  Camron: I’ll drop by.  Gavin ran up to Camron gasping for air. It took him a minute to catch his breath. Camron opened his car door and tossed a water bottle at him.  “Took you long enough!” He teased.  “f**k. Dude, you suck.” Gavin decked him in the arm. Camron just chuckled.  “Austin and Ross got us into Velvet Skyline.” Camron leaned against his car again and crossed his arms against his chest. Gavin finally caught his breath and pulled out his phone.  “Dude! I’m so down. I uh, should go home and shower though.” Gavin lifted his sweat stained shirt and took a whiff before making a face. “Yeah, I should probably do the same.” Camron laughed.  “See ya later Cam.” Gavin waved and got in his car. Camron waved back before sliding into his own car. He put on some classic rock music for the drive home. Camron had a house just outside the city. It was a bit of a drive, but he jammed out to music and drummed his fingers on the steering wheel to keep occupied. He drove up to his gate and entered his passcode to open it. Camron parked in the garage and grabbed his things. His house was rather large for just one person, but he liked having his own space.  He tossed his keys and phone on the kitchen counter and climbed up the stairs to his bedroom. He turned on the shower and waited for it to warm up. The girl from earlier popped into his head. Her tiny waist, the buttons on her blouse threatening to pop open with her every step, the way her hips swayed as she walked. f**k. Camron sighed heavily and took a quick shower.  Cameron dressed in tight black jeans and a fitted blue polo. He tried to get his curly black hair to cooperate, but it was no use. It rebelled into a mess on top of his head. His stomach grumbled. He forgot to grab food on his way home, so he raided his fridge for leftovers. He ate quickly, enjoying the quiet. He arranged plans for interviews for a chef for tomorrow. He knew the guys were just kidding, but it didn’t sound like a bad idea. Camron’s phone buzzed on the counter as he tossed his dishes in the sink.  Ross: Get your ass over here!  Austin: So many girls! Drowning in babes.  Camron: On my way…  Camron tossed his wallet and phone in his pocket and snatched his keys from the counter. He slid into his car and put on some music for the drive there. The Velvet Skyline was in the downtown area. It was a three story club with a rooftop bar and lounge. Ross and Austin had been trying for weeks to get on the VIP list. He was a little shocked that they succeeded. As Camron drove, he could see that downtown was popping. There were girls, barely dressed, going in and out of the bars. He had a hard time finding a place to park.  Luckily, he found a space not too far from the bar, just a little walk away which he didn’t mind. Once he got to the bar a security guard, larger than him, asked for his name. He hesitantly gave it and was allowed in. The music was bass heavy and he could feel it in his chest. There were pulsing lights and people sloshed around drunkenly to the music. Camron pulled out his phone.  Camron: Where are you guys?  Gavin: On the roof!  Camron gave a light sigh and tried to maneuver around the crowd to the elevator. There was another rather large security guard blocking the doors. Camron was starting to get a little annoyed, but he knew once he had a drink he would be able to relax a little. He gave his name and was allowed up to the rooftop. There weren't as many people, which was refreshing. There was a full bar, large couches and seating areas and a DJ. Soft lights lit up the area in cool colors.  On a couch was Austin and Ross. Each had two girls hanging off their arms. Camron smirked. They were always getting some action. He looked around for Gavin while he made his way to the bar. In the corner, there were tables and chairs set up and he spotted Gavin talking to a shy looking red head. Gavin had a certain sweet spot when it came to girls. He wasn’t a playboy like the other two. As for Camron, he enjoyed one night stands here and there. Nothing serious.   As he approached the bar, Camron spotted the bartender. Her dark hair was pulled back and her top barely covered her breasts. Her stomach was bare and her shorts hung low off her hips. She had piercings all over. Her eyebrow, nose, belly button. Camron couldn’t keep his eyes off of her. He walked up to the bar and took a seat, waiting for her to come by. She finished making a drink and sauntered over to him, her hips swaying.   “What can I get for you handsome?” She leaned over the bar a little, giving him a great view.  “A shot please. Angel’s Envy, if you have it.” Camron smirked. It was going to be a fun night for him.  “You got it.” She winked and went to go pour his shot. She came back with two. “You looked like you needed a double.” She giggled.  “Oh?” Camron raised an eyebrow and downed the first shot. “I have to admit, this isn’t really my scene.”  “Is that so?” She bit her lip.  “Too many people, and too much noise.” Camron shook his head. The girl laughed a little. “Well let me know if you need another drink, handsome.” She flashed him a smile and walked off, tending to other people.  “Damn.” Camron said under his breath. He took the second shot, eyeing the bartender. Looking her up and down. Someone smacked his back and Camron whipped around.  “What the f**k dude?” Camron punched Gavin in the chest. He laughed.  “Lighten up Cam! It's a party.” Gavin sat down next to him.  “What happened to that red head you were talking to?”  “You know I’m not good with the ladies.” Gavin took a swig from his beer.  “You should get some pointers from the experts.” Camron chuckled.  “Nah. You know Austin and Ross leave a trail of broken hearts wherever they go. I don’t want that.” Camron shrugged in response.  “What’s wrong with having a little fun though?” Camron asked. Gavin was about to answer, when Austin stumbled into them.  “Hey dudes. The chickies are wanting to dance. You should come dance.” Austin stumbled through his sentences.  “I’ll pass.” Gavin grumbled.  “Mr. Grumpy over here. Man. Isn’t that usually your job Cam?” Austin laughed. The DJ started playing an upbeat song and Austin was dragged to the dance floor by some hotties. Gavin groaned.  “Come on Gav. It’ll be like old times.” Camron chuckled. Gavin chugged the last of his beer.  “I think I need a shot. Then we can humor Austin with your bad dancing.” Gavin waved down the bartender.  “Needed something else, huh?” She smiled at Camron.  “You gotta be kidding me.” Gavin groaned and buried his head in his hands.  “Two more shots, please.” Camron fished out his wallet.  “Looks like your friend could use a double.” She laughed.  “Make it three then.” Camron gave her cash and told her to keep the change.  “I couldn’t help but hear about your bad dancing.” The bartender smiled and set out the shots in front of them.  “He’s exaggerating. I’m not that bad.” Camron defended.  “Not that bad?” Gavin downed the first shot. “He’s like a stampede of elephants.” He downed the second.  “He is such a wingman.” Camron rolled his eyes.  “Oh, just the best.” The bartender giggled. Gavin belched.  “I’ll be wiggling and wobbling over on the dance floor, for you when you finish up here.” Gavin got up from his seat and meandered over to the crowd of people around the DJ stand.  “Well… My shift is almost over, and I do enjoy this particular DJ.” The bartender leaned in closer to him. Camron smirked and took his shot.  “Come find me when you’re done.” Camron got up. It was going to be a good night, at least for him.  “I’m sure it won’t be hard, considering the stampeding elephants.” She laughed and he tried to hide his embarrassment.  Camron shimmied his way through the crowd until he found his bandmates. Austin had a girl grinding up against him, Gavin was twirling some chick around and Ross was being fought over by two friends. Camron moved his body as best he could in the crowd of people, and wondered if the hot bartender was really flirting with him. She could have just been fishing for some good tips. She was really hot though… A pair of hands slipped around his waist, and he jumped a little at the sudden touch. He turned around to see the bartender.  “Can I join you?” She smiled.  “I won’t turn down the company. Especially yours.” Camron smirked and pulled her into him. Her ass fitting perfectly below his waist. The way she moved her hips into him was enough to turn him on. He moved his hands up and down the curves of her body. “Get a room!” Gavin shouted.   “My place?” Camron whispered into her ear. She turned around to face him and nodded. They made a fast getaway through the crowds until they were outside. Camron showed her where he parked and opened the passenger door for her.  “What a gentleman.” She giggled. Camron chuckled, he just wanted to check her out as she climbed into the seat. Camron let her choose the music while he drove. To his surprise and distaste, she favored country music. After the agonizing drive, Camron ushered her into the house.  “Want a drink?” He offered. She nodded. A few shots later, Camron had his hands on her waist and he pulled her into a kiss. His large hands caressed the curves of her body as her mouth met his. She moaned softly as they kissed and Camron grabbed her ass and lifted her up. He carried her up the stairs and into his bedroom. She trailed kisses down his neck. Camron tossed her onto his bed and loomed over her, his muscles flexing as he held his weight above her.  “Shall we take these pesky clothes off?” She asked, tugging at the button of his pants. Camron smirked and tossed his shirt on the floor. It was going to be a long night…
