It was a low, mournful sound, not as much music as it was a longing. Hunter’s fingers instinctively went to the jewel at his throat, only to feel its coldness like a frozen chip of ice lodged against his skin. Before he could pull his thoughts out of the mists of sleep and ask the HeartCrystal what was wrong, his powers kicked in. Star wasn’t in bed.
