Chapter 2:Mistake Identity

Jace's Pov
"Did you find her?"
"Yes boss".
Jace had been tirelessly searching for Lady Scarlet ever since she disappeared without a trace months ago. He had left no stone unturned, enlisting the help of friends, private investigators, and even reaching out to the authorities. The anguish of not knowing her whereabouts had been eating away at him.
"Where is she?"
"She's with us".
Silence fell at both ends of the call, it seemed he didn't know what else to say, he had to cut the silence.
"Bring her to me untouched".
"She looks haggard".
"I'll be waiting". He immediately hung up the call as he pretended not to hear the last statement from his men.
He didn't know why he paced around, he just couldn't sit on the couch which felt so warm.
"Sir do you need anything?" One of the maids asked after she observed his countenance.
"No". He impatiently dismissed her.
The chance was here, he decided to use every bit of it, before someone else ventures into it.

"Boss?"
Jace had woken up, he recognized the voice of Chris, his right hand man.
"Stay there".
"Let me go, I didn't kill anybody". She struggled to free herself.
"You'll stay here till boss arrives".
He overhead Chris talking to someone, Jace immediately came out from his room to his surprise his eyes had met hers first.
"Lady Scarlet?" She looked almost unrecognizable. She had changed her hair, her clothes, and even her demeanor. Chris was so overwhelmed with emotion that he didn't know how to react.
"Who?" She looked around to know who he was referring to.
He had almost charged at her for making him feel like a fool in the presence of his boys.
"What did you do to your hair?" He looked at her in astonishment while he tried to recover from the shock. "Your new look is horrible". He knew she sensed he was lying but what mattered here was her signature.
"Sorry I think you're mistaken me for someone else". She chuckled softly.
"You know I hate that, stop making me be like a fool". He warned her with a stern look.
"But i-".
"You would have said you weren't interested than change your looks. What were you thinking hunh?"
"Can you all stop this, I'm not who you think I'm". She stated as she took some steps backward, he was beginning to scare her.
"That's because you've been living in a lie, but you can't change who you're Lady Scarlet". He gave her a grin. " We've got a deal and you must fulfill it".
"Like i said, I don't know you, my people would be looking for me by now".
Jace felt her fear which meant nothing to him, she wouldn't dare spoil everything he had tried to build.
"You forgot I found you the first day and today I found you again". He continued as he walked slowly towards her while she took another step backwards but was stopped by one of his men.His face initially contorted with anger and confusion. He was tempted to confront her for disappearing and for changing her appearance so drastically.
"We've got some unfinished business Lady Scarlet and you can't just walk away from such business". He immediately controlled his emotions.
"What business and who are you?" She eyed him with confusion all over her. Her breath seemed to have become slow, she could barely breathe as she saw him so close to her.
"I want you to wake up from your dream Lady Scarlet". Jace shook her shoulders roughly. He had always been known for his incredible memory. He rarely forgot a face or a name, which made his friends often joke that he should be a detective.
"Please I don't need this kind of embarrassment". She brushed off his hands shoulder and turned to the door but his grip had tightened on her shoulder.
"Before you leave, i suggest you wait and hear me out". His grip on her shoulder had lightened.
For a minute Jace felt he was talking to another person entirely and another minute he felt he knew who she was. Her eyes were sea blue eyes and had a black hair. He thought the Lady Scarlet he knew had a blond hair and a light brown colored eyeballs. The lady that faced him looked and sounded opposite which he didnt seem to mind.
"You seem to have forgotten so easily, you can't stop this from happening. Its too late". He gave her a grin while he sat down and gestured her to do same.
"The rest of you can go". He looked at his boys as he dismissed all of them. Jace's initial relief quickly turned into frustration as he realized she was playing dumb. He had expected an explanation for her disappearance and her drastic change in appearance, but instead, she was acting as though nothing had happened.
"Look Mister or whoever you're, I don't fit into the character called, please just let me go".
" Yes you do, and it's only a matter of time, you bring your ego down because I'm paying you".
"Paying me? What do you mean by that?"
"Sit".
"I prefer to stand". She looked at the ground and wished it would just open.
"I insist you sit ". He stopped himself from shouting at her.
"Would you like a drink or maybe something to eat?"
"No, thank you".
Silence fell between them as thoughts filled their heads.
"Just so you know, you got nowhere to hide". He brought out the brown envelop he had stashed inside the chair and threw it to Anastasia who sat opposite him.
"Sign it".
"Listen to me, I'm not who you think I'm, my name is Ana-".
"Whatever, just sign the paper". He had no idea he had raised his voice, he had gotten impatient and the lady opposite him gave him rage. He saw the shock in her eyes but didnt care, women would kill to have the opportunity he was giving to her.
"You can be arrested for this".
"I wish". He watched her as she reluctantly opened the envelop
"What's this?"
"Open it and see". He watched her slowly open the envelop as her face suddenly turned into a surprise face.
"600million dollars?"
She didn't know she had screamed it out.
