Anastasia's Pov. "600million dollars? She looked at him for confirmation, but he sat unmoved, his stern face told her he was serious. She had impatiently opened the envelop. The words were too much for her to read at first and the money had captured her attention. "Sorry what's the money for?" She immediately remembered they had called her Lady Scarlet earlier on. Who was Lady Scarlet? She had questions but the money she had see stopped her. She felt a little discomfort with the way he eyed her. "You can find that out yourself" . He pointed at the letter in her hands. She looked down at the letter she had already opened. She read through them, her heart racing with a mix of anticipation and trepidation. "If you are reading this, then I assume you've accepted the contract which will last for 100days. As you've already known, you are to be my wife within the duration and abide to the rules which will be slated below. 1. You're staying in this house once the contract is signed. 2. On no account are you to have an external relationship outside this. 3. You have your privacy, a room has been kept for you. 4. On no account are you to invite your friends into my house. 5. No physical contact or emotions should be involved, this is strictly business. 6. For every party I attend, you're to be with me. 7. You're not allowed to go too far from the house, whatever you need there are maids at your call. 8. Half of the money will be paid to you after a week, to make sure you don't run off like before. 9. No body is allowed to visit you except your families and they are to stay not more than 30minutes. 10. This contract will be terminated after 100days. 11. Your wardrobe will be changed. After reading them, she noticed the last clause had just been added but she didn't mind. She couldn't help but marvel at the thoughtfulness behind each clauses. It was clear that Alex had considered the emotional complexities of their situation. "Are you accepting the offer?" He looked sternly at her. She sensed he was too full of himself and that was because he felt he had the whole money in the world. She looked at the pen for some minutes before she picked it up. "I'll sign this on one condition". She paused as she looked at him. "Which is?" Jace barely stared at her, most of his interest had to gone to his phone he was operating. "Before you give me the advance, I'll ask you for hundred thousand". "Done". He stated as he reached for his cheque and signed almost immediately. She watched him quietly with mixed feeling, her heart throbbed fast at the thought of her wish being granted. "Here". He gave her the cheque. "Do you need anything else?" She felt silent at first, the shock she felt had kept her position in one place. "One million dollars". She couldn't help but stated it out. "Yes, that's your upkeep which start from today". "No, thank you". She pinched herself for thanking him which would make him feel she was too cheap. The contract laid out before her, its words taunting her like a devil's bargain. She never imagined herself in this situation, contemplating marriage to a man she barely knew for the sake of money. The choice weighed heavily on her heart. "For what?" He looked at her for an answer. "You're not angry and haven't forgotten me". She had wanted to say for the money he had given her. It wasn't a bad thing taking the official position of Lady Scarlet, her concern was on her grandmother who waited for her. "You can have one copy, I'll have mine documented" She knew he was indirectly telling her that there was no backing out once it was signed. With a trembling hand, she brought the pen to the paper and signed her name. The weight of her decision settled on her shoulders like a heavy cloak. "Here's yours". She handed a piece of the paper to Jace who collected it. "Good, first thing first I need to know where you stay". "You want to follow me?" She asked as she tried to suppress her worry. "No, that's ridiculous". He raised an eyebrow at her. "My guards would follow you and know where you stay". He added. "I don't want to go home now". She eyed him. "Is everything okay". "Yes". She sighed, running a hand through her long, dark hair. "So where are you staying now?" "Hotel". She hesitated for a moment, her guard slipping, but she quickly composed herself and replied with a white lie. "Hotel?" He looked at her with a suspicious tone. "I just came into town and I don't want my mother or anyone know am in town, that's why you couldn't find me". "Which hotel?" "Aries". "Look, your safety is now my responsibility and you need to keep me updated on that". "May I go now?" "Yes, but I'll be back for you first thing tomorrow, so I expect you to have said your final goodbyes". "I'm not comfortable with your boys taking me back today, I prefer to take a cab back home". She gave him a pleading look. "Fine, but I'll need your address tomorrow". "See you tomorrow my Sunshine". She nodded in response as she turned to take the exit, Jacy last word froze her feet. Silently she prayed the ground swallowed her, he had caught her. She told herself, only her father and close friends called her that. "Your skin glowed the minute you opened the door". Jacy blinked an eye for her. "Thank you". Anastasia forced a smile in her face before she stepped out of the house with a heavy sigh. "Have a goodnight and do not try to run away from me again". She heard his last word clearly while she shut the door almost immediately.
