Elara Pov
My mother-in-law stayed one week in the hospital before the doctor allowed her to be discharged. And during the days she was in the hospital until she was released, Hannah was always watching over her. When I went to the hospital to visit her, I never stayed long because of that woman's presence. Even on the day my mother-in-law was discharged from the hospital, Hannah was also there and acted like she was the daughter-in-law instead of me.
I didn't argue with her even though sometimes she would make snide remarks at me. I don't want to waste time on worthless people. It's better to focus my attention on work.
"You have a visitor, bestie," Liam said to me after entering my office.
"Who is—" I hadn't finished speaking when Alexander entered my office. "What are you doing here?" I frowned. It was a miracle that he visited me at my workplace.
"I'll leave you two to talk, bestie," said Liam before turning around and leaving my office.
"Sit down. What can I do for you?" I formally addressed Alexander after my friend left.
Instead of sitting down, Alexander looked around my entire office. I felt a bit small because if I compare my office to his, mine is probably only as big as the toilet in his office. But even though my office is small, it still looks nice. There's a long sofa for clients, a pantry area, and a refrigerator in my office so that when there's a client, I can offer them something to drink or at least coffee. The color of the paint on the walls and ceiling is also pleasant and refreshing to the eyes, and even the color of the tiles on the floor is relaxing to look at.
"Small office but very nice," commented Alexander after surveying my entire office until he reached the displayed designs of various clothes, whether formal or casual, that I had designed.
"What do you need for coming here?" I asked again. I ignored his compliment and pretended not to hear it.
Alexander seemed not to hear and approached the displayed clothing designs he saw.
"I suddenly remember that on the upcoming anniversary of our company, the employees will change uniforms. We need two thousand uniforms, one thousand two hundred for males and eight hundred for females. There is a bidding for the design that the company wants. You can join the bidding if you want. Then you can start to draft your design and send it to the company's HR," Alexander said at length while still looking and examining my designs.
I couldn't speak immediately. Two thousand orders? Oh my gosh! That's a lot. If we win the bidding, that's also a lot of money. But is he sure that he wants me to join the bidding? Surely, many big companies will compete to get the contract for the new design of his company's uniform, and I might not have a chance to win.
"Did you come here to inform me about that?" I couldn't believe that he would take the trouble to come here just to let me know that there would be a bidding for the new design of his company's employees' uniforms. Since when did he start trusting me?
Alexander approached the sofa before speaking again. "Well, actually, that's not the reason I came here. I just suddenly remembered the bidding when I saw your designs and I think you can join if you want. But the real reason I came here is because my Mom wants us to go out of town this weekend. She said it's her way of thanking for surviving certain dangers."
"This weekend?" I thought for a moment if I had an appointment with Sam or not. When I realized I didn't have any appointments, I immediately agreed. Even on weekends, I make appointments with Sam as long as he's not busy.
"Can I bring a friend?" I want to bring Liam so he can relax too.
"Of course," he said with a smile, seemingly pleased that I agreed to join the out-of-town trip. "Well, I won't stay long. See you at home." He stood up and walked out of my office.
I waited a few minutes before standing up from my seat to go to Liam's office and inform him about the bidding that would take place at Alexander's company. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see Liam at the door along with the employees of our small company.
"Is that your husband, Ma'am Elara? He's super handsome and hot!" Vicky squealed softly. She is the one who contacts the company that sews our designs.
All of us know how to sew but we don't have the equipment yet, so we have others do the sewing for now. But if I secure the contract for the bidding of the new design for Alexander's company's uniform, I will definitely buy equipment with the money I won from the contest abroad. We will also expand our space to place the sewing machines and other tools.
"What are you doing in front of my office door?" I asked them with a frown.
"Of course, we want to know what Alexander wants from you," answered Liam, the instigator.
I suddenly smiled and excitedly shared what Alexander said.
"If we win the bidding, you will all get a bonus from me," I happily announced.
Our employees applauded when they heard the good news. Everyone was excited and forgot about the handsome and hot husband of mine they had seen.
After my announcement, I immediately sent them back to their respective tasks. Liam, on the other hand, entered my office and sat on the sofa.
"Is that the only reason Alexander came here?" he asked while sitting cross-legged.
"No. His mother wants us to go out of town next week. Do you have plans this weekend? Do you want to join us?"
"Sorry, my dear. I'd love to join but I can't. I have a date this weekend," Liam apologized. "Why don't you just take Dr. Dios with you?"
"Well, if he's willing and not busy." Liam is right. I'll just take Sam on the out-of-town trip. I'm sure Hannah will come too. It's good to have Sam with me so I won't look like a third wheel when the three of us are together.
