Chapter 13

Alexander Pov Edzel couldn't help but laugh at me after hearing what I told him. I told him what Elara did to me while I was drunk. "It's not funny, bro. I'm annoyed," I said to him with a frown. He stopped laughing but it was obvious he was just holding back from laughing. "I think I started to like Elara, bro. It's good that she dragged you like a sack of rice and put you to sleep in her bed rather than dragging you to the bathroom and putting you to sleep there," he commented while shaking his head and chuckling slightly. He's probably imagining what I looked like while Elara was dragging me, especially when he said I kissed the floor because I was hallucinating that there was a goddess in front of me, if what she said is true and she's not just teasing me. No matter how much I try to recall in my mind, I really can't remember doing the thing that woman said. Just imagining myself kissing the floor in front of Elara makes me want to sink into my seat right now. I'm sure that woman made fun of me. "What if that woman took a video of me and then used it to blackmail me?" I couldn't help but clench my fist. If Elara uses the video or picture—if she even took one—against me to get what she wants, I won't forgive her. "Elara probably wouldn't do something like that, bro." "Don't be so sure, bro. It's like you don't know her," I immediately countered him. "If I base it on how I knew her before, I would say she was a good woman. Diligent and responsible in school." "You know that she planned everything from the start just to get closer to me. She even managed to marry me. So don't underestimate that woman." When I think about how she manipulated my mom to become my wife, I can't help but feel anger rising in my chest. I dislike people who love to manipulate. Edzel shook his head at what I said. "I think you're just being prejudiced. Why don't you try to get to know her? Who knows? Maybe you two are really destined for each other?" "Hell no!" I firmly objected. I stood up from where I was sitting and walked out of my friend's house without saying goodbye. "Don't eat your words, Alexander!" shouted Edzel but I didn't turn around. I just pretended not to hear his voice. He is wrong. Elara and I are not destined for each other. It will never happen. Elara's POV It's my rest day today. Finally, I finished the design I entered into the contest yesterday. After several days of staying up late, I finally completed the design. Liam has already submitted the design I made, so he let me rest today. After sleeping from almost morning until noon, I went out of my room after taking a bath. There was already food prepared on the table, so I didn't need to call a maid to order Miguelino to cook for me. As much as possible, I don't like going to the kitchen. I have already met Miguelino and I can say that Mercy is right. Alexander's cook is indeed grumpy. That's why I only eat whatever food he prepares. I don't look for anything else because he might get annoyed with me. After eating, I just left my dishes on the table because some helper who sees them will clean them up. I thought of going outside the house to check the garden. I noticed that there are many blooming plants around, but it's only now that I've had the chance to examine them. I saw Dindo trimming the dry leaves on the plants while Belen was selecting fresh flowers to cut. Smiling, I approached Belen. "Can I help you? I'm getting a bit bored. I have nothing to do." "Of course!" Belen quickly replied with a smile. "You can be the one to choose the flowers that I'll cut and place in the flower vases inside the house. The flowers there need to be replaced because they are about to wilt." As Belen said, I was the one who chose the flowers to be placed in the flower vases for inside the house. While we were busy with what we were doing, a woman suddenly arrived and angrily pointed at my face. "Are you the woman who seduced Alexander?" the woman asked me sharply. Her appearance was like that of a wife who suddenly stormed into the house of her husband's mistress. "Excuse me?" I raised an eyebrow at her. I just ignored her pointing at me. I don't know her. I don't know what role she plays in Alexander's life. Maybe she's important to that man, and if I get into a fight with this woman, he'll surely get mad at me again. I'm sure Alexander won't side with me. "Don't you know me?" The woman's eyes suddenly widened as if it was a great insult to her that I didn't know her. When in fact, I really didn't know who she was. "Introduce me to that woman, Belen. Tell her what my connection is to Alexander," she ordered the maid. Belen faced me and spoke hesitantly. "She is Ma'am Hannah, Elara. Her father was a friend of Sir Alexander's late father, so she is close to the Reed family." She then turned to the newly arrived woman to introduce me to her. "She is Elara, Ma'am Hannah. She is Sir Alexander's wife." "Ah, you're a family friend of my husband," I said to Hannah in a tone uninterested in finding out how close she was to Alexander. "Family friend? Are you stupid? Why did you only introduce me as a family friend to that woman? I am his future wife! The one and only!" Hannah snarled at Belen like a tiger, making the maid frightened and confused. "What should it be, Ma'am Hannah? Aren't you a family friend of the Reed family because both your fathers are friends?" Belen asked innocently, which Hannah took offense to. Hannah angrily pushed Belen. Her push was so strong that the poor maid fell to the ground. "I don't know if you're stupid or you're mocking me because in your eyes I am just a family friend of Alexander!" she shouted at Belen, who was visibly scared of the woman in front of her. "Hannah, I don't care what your relationship with Alexander is, but do not hurt anyone living in this house because you are not the one paying their salaries," I said to Hannah irritably, then approached Belen and helped her stand up. "Don't act like their heroin, woman! Because I can get you kicked out of this house someday," she threatened me firmly. "I know Alexander was forced to marry you. And when he can no longer stand being in the same house with you, I'm sure he'll divorce you." "So what?" I answered her defiantly. "All I know is that even if Alexander and I get divorced, he won't end up with you." Hannah suddenly gave me a sharp look. Her gaze was like a sharp knife as if she wanted to rip my heart out of my chest. "Remember this, Elara. From now on, you are my mortal enemy. And let me warn you. Be careful because I'm a bad enemy." After giving me the warning, she turned around without a word and walked away from us. Goodness! I have another enemy besides Alexander. That man really brings me bad luck. I have a feeling that Hannah won't be the only person I'll clash with because of him, so I better prepare myself for the upcoming battles.
