Chapter 34

Elara Pov When I exited the mall, I immediately walked toward the parking lot where my car was parked. I hadn't gotten far from the mall entrance when suddenly a boy approached me and shot me in the face with a water gun he was holding, then ran away while laughing. Annoyed, I took a dry tissue from my bag and wiped my wet face. "Great! My day is really great! I met the perverted, playboy, and overconfident boyfriend of my friend today, and now that kid shoots me with his water gun," I said to myself in frustration. Who knows where that kid got the water he put in his water gun? After drying my face with tissue paper, I continued walking towards the parking lot. I was near my car when another young boy approached me and spoke to me. "This is for you, Miss," the boy said to me. He handed me a folded white paper. And before I could ask him who the paper came from, the young boy quickly ran away from me. With a furrowed brow, I unfolded the paper and read the words written inside. My eyes widened at what I read, and I immediately scanned the entire parking lot with my eyes to find the person who might have given the letter. Maybe the person in the red car sent the letter. But as I checked each car that was parked, the red car that had been following me earlier was not there. In fear, I ran towards my car, quickly opened it, and got inside. I quickly locked the door and just threw the paper with the bold letter written "NEXT TIME IT WON'T JUST BE WATER THAT HITS YOUR FACE BUT ACID!" onto the seat beside me. I took a moment to collect myself before starting my car's engine and maneuvering out of the parking lot. While driving my car along the road, my mind was still occupied with the threat I received. Who could possibly be the person giving me that threat? I thought about people who might have a grudge against me. Aside from Hannah, I couldn't think of anyone else because there are only a few people I talk to. That woman is angry with me. And possibly due to intense jealousy, she might actually carry out the threat mentioned in the letter. It was as if the wind whispered to me and told me to look behind my car, so I did. My eyes widened when I saw that the red car that had been following me earlier was there again. It is following me again. Now, I can't say this is just a coincidence. It is really following me. My mind was preoccupied with thinking about the threat I received and the red car following me, so I was startled when something suddenly hit the back of my car. In my shock, I suddenly stepped on the brake of my car, causing me to stop in the middle of the road. Out of extreme concern that some car might hit me from behind again, I immediately started my car and pulled over to the side of the road. I got out of my car to see which car had hit mine. But there was no other car stopped on that road except mine. It seems like someone intentionally hit my car. But who could have deliberately hit my car? Could it be the driver of the red car? When I thought of the red car, I hurriedly went back inside my car. I leaned my head against the backrest of the seat and closed my eyes to calm myself down. But before I could even calm myself down, suddenly something strongly hit the rear of my car once again. I screamed loudly in shock. Because the impact was strong and I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, my face slammed into the steering wheel. I groaned in pain and immediately touched my injured face. I looked back but just like earlier, the car that hit my car was no longer there. It seems like someone with nothing better to do is playing tricks on me. Worried that my car might get hit again, I immediately drove away. I went straight to Alexander's house because I was afraid that whoever it was might follow me to my house. I'm alone in my house and no one could help me if someone barged in and did something bad to me. When I arrived at Alexander's house, I immediately went to the kitchen to get ice cubes and put them inside the ice pack. "What happened to your face, Elara?" Miguelino asked me curiously when he saw that I had a scratch on my forehead and left cheek. Miguelino is talking to me now and I discovered that he is not as scary as the maids in this house told me. He is just really serious when he is cooking food. He is just very dedicated to his job because Alexander pays him a high salary. "Minor accident," I replied briefly. "Is Alexander here yet?" "Not yet. But he said he won't be having dinner here. He has a dinner meeting tonight." "Okay. I'll go up to my room first to treat the scratch on my face." When Miguelino nodded, I quickly went up to my room carrying the ice pack. While I was applying an ice pack to the scratch on my face, I couldn't help but recall what happened. If it is true that Hannah is behind this incident, I can say that there is a basis for what I felt about her whenever I saw her eyes glaring at me sharply. Her love for Alexander must be so intense that she can do such evil to others, especially to a woman she sees as a major obstacle to getting the man she loves. After administering first aid to the scratch on my face, I changed into home clothes and lay flat on the bed. I don't know if I should tell Alexander about this or not. But I have no evidence against Hannah to prove that she is indeed behind what happened to me. She will surely just say that I am slandering her and accusing her of a crime she did not commit. I haven't even decided yet what I should do, and here comes Alexander, knocking loudly on the door of my room. I thought he wouldn't come home early because he had a dinner meeting? Why is he here this early? Feeling lazy, I got up from bed and opened the door for him. "What happened, Elara? Why did I see a big dent in the back of your car? Were you in an accident? And what happened to your face?' With all of Alexander's questions, I don't know which one to answer first. "Can you ask questions one at a time? You're giving me a headache,' I complained to him. He grabbed me by the arm, pulled me into my room, and sat me on the edge of the bed. "Now tell me what really happened. Look what is damaged in your face." I told him what happened because I couldn't hide it anymore and he had already seen the dent at the back of my car. "It's just a minor accident," I said to him after telling the whole story except meeting the perverted boyfriend of my best friend. "Minor accident? I think someone intentionally hit your car. Don't you remember anyone you had a conflict with?" "No one except Hannah. She's the only one who had a grudge against me. And it's all because of you," I answered him. "Hannah? But she's currently not in the country. She has been abroad since last week. She left with her dad because it's her grandfather's birthday who lives abroad." I was even more puzzled about who could have hit my car earlier. It turns out Hannah is not in the country, so it's impossible that she was behind what happened earlier. But if it wasn't her, then who?
