I smile at Lance, a wave of relief rushing through me over knowing that he truly had my best interest at heart instead of his own. When I broached the topic of taking a break from these dates after two rejections, I fully expected him to try to talk me into continuing since he would suffer greatly. But he pleasantly surprised me by being fully supportive of whatever it was that I chose to do. That alone was reason enough for me to continue so that he didn’t have to suffer, even if I wasn’t really feeling it. However, before that there was one more thing that I needed to do so that we could move forward amicably.
