Chapter 2

Caz

My side was burning, but I couldn't stop. I had to protect my people. I saw their bodies falling around me as I pushed my way through the fighting. The rogues had come out of nowhere, slaughtering my people in their sleep. It was 3 minutes before the guards even noticed that half the perimeter was open, and the wolves stationed there were dead. I sent my Gama, Todd, to call for help. Only one Alpha responded, but it was too late. My pack was destroyed. My Beta, William, and his family were among the first to die. I shook my head and focused on the task in front of me. Killing the leader of the rogue pack that had destroyed everything I loved. I could see him a hundred yards ahead, fighting with one of my top warriors. Pack members, I thundered through the mind link, Alpha Dean Thompson of the Half Moon Pack is sending aid. Get to the tunnels beneath the pack house immediately. Do not come out until you hear from me. I put every ounce of strength into the order, pushing my aura out into my pack. I had to save them, even if it meant sacrificing myself. I was closing in on the rogue leader and my wolf, Angelus, was clawing to come out. I had kept him mostly contained to preserve his strength throughout the fight. But now, it was all or nothing. I quickly shifted, letting him take control. We only had minutes before the wolfsbane took him out. We crept behind the rogue leader silently, he was off his game. Distracted by the retreating wolves, it made him cocky. "Ha! That's right! Run away while you can. This pack is mine as soon as I kill your..." He didn't even finish his sentence before Angleus ripped his head off. Caz, Angelus grunted, we did it. We sure did, buddy. Rest now, I whispered back as I felt him slip away, taking the last of my strength with him. The last thing I remember hearing was the sound of helicopters approaching. We were saved. I let the black creeping into my vision take me as I succumbed to the pain in my side.

Dean

I felt a nagging in the back of my mind. Someone wanted to mind link me. I opened up the mind link and heard my Gamma, Daemon's, self-assured voice in my head. Alpha, sorry to wake you. I wanted to inform you that we have secured the surviving members of the Eclipse Moon Pack. We have dispatched all the rogues as well. Would you like the full report now or when we return in two hours? I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and sat up. I will be waiting for you in my office when you arrive. I'd like the full report then. Thank you, D. The mind link closed, and I looked to my right where my beautiful Luna slept.

I chose Stephanie when I was 21. I didn't bother waiting for my goddess-gifted mate. Once I met Stephanie, I knew I had found everything I needed in a Luna. I hesitated to wake her, but she would be pissed if she found out I brought members of a neighboring pack onto our territory and didn't tell her. I shook her a bit and she opened one eye. "Dean, you know I love you, but if you're waking me up for no good reason I will bite you." I chuckled and wrapped my arms around her, spooning her. "You never were a morning person, Steph." I kissed her neck lightly, and she wiggled her backside against me. "I think you just haven't been waking me up the right way" she sassed at me, turning around to kiss me. I groaned into her mouth as she wrapped one leg around me, pressing herself as close as she could. Even 25 years later we couldn't keep our hands off each other. I swept her mouth with my tongue and pulled her bottom lip into my mouth. She moaned in response, spurring me on. I stroked her back in long, sweeping motions as she ground against me. I had two hours before Bret arrived, and I needed to let go of the stress of the past 10 hours. I flipped us, so Stephanie was trapped beneath me, her perky breasts pressed against my chest.
