Chapter 14 – Breaking Amish Wednesday Morning, June 18th, 2014 Mel and I talked well into the night about my run in with the OSHP Lieutenant. I felt like Nichols was looking at me as his primary suspect. Mel tried to convince me that the state cop was just trying to cover all of his bases. I prayed she was right. I just didn’t need the aggravation of trying to mount a criminal defense and prove my innocence right now, on top of everything else, and Mel’s campaign didn’t need the sort of publicity a murder investigation centered on her girlfriend would bring.
