FAMILIAR.

Lena's POV. By the time I blinked, he was gone, nowhere to be found again as I checked around. 'Did I imagine him or was I hallucinating?' I pondered as I drowned another shot down my throat. "Excited about your wedding tomorrow?" Tia's annoying voice came up again, and I groaned, fighting the anger burning through my veins. Could this b***h just shut her goddamn mouth? I was infuriated, but now wasn't the time for me to react or retaliate. No, I wanted them all to suffer to their death, slowly, just like I did. I would also have to play pretend and fool them successfully as they did to me in my past life. "Yes, finally, Dane is mine," I replied, and Tia chuckled. "You think so? Remember he still doesn't like you." She said the exact same words she told me previously, and then I thought she was concerned about me. But now, I just realized it was an indirect shade. I laughed within, satisfied I was no longer gullible or blind to her tricks. "That's where you are wrong Tia. Dane actually told me on the call that he can't wait to be with me. I think he is starting to fall in love with me, especially after I followed all your advices and got him that watch he had admired for so long." I lied and watched with satisfaction as all colors drained out of her face. Her eyes flashed with anger, especially when I grabbed her by the arm, smiling brightly. "He also promised to make this marriage work. Thank you, bestie, for all your wonderful advices; they worked." I struggled not to grit my teeth against one another as those words escaped me. "Sure." Tia immediately snatched her hand from me, scratching the back of her head as she stood up from the stool. "I have to leave now, Lena. Please enjoy the rest of the night and make sure you aren't late for your wedding tomorrow." She winked at me, and I think I caught a glint in her eyes, but when I blinked, she had already turned around and was leaving. What a shame! I wanted to tease and annoy her more, but it's a good thing she left. I mean I was about to die from the stinking air she breathed around me. I shrugged, standing up from the stool as well, prepared to go home. I was feeling surprisingly hot. Tia probably wanted to go confront Dane or something. Well, I didn't care; she should be my guest. As I was leaving, a man collided with me at the exit, and surprisingly, a moan escaped me as my insides burned, my mouth watering. "Damn! Pretty lady, are you good?" The man asked as he touched me again, sending waves of desire through me as I flinched away from him. What was going on? Why was my body reacting to him? "Don't shy away from me, pretty. Come here." The man strangely tried touching me again when I heard a loud noise. I turned to see a familiar back punching the guy in the face, before grabbing and hitting his head against the wall. I gasped as blood spluttered everywhere, my heart skipping a beat as my nose caught a whiff of the cologne. I was familiar with it and would recognize it anywhere. Could it really be him? Did I not hallucinate then? "Who are you and what do you want with her?" His dark, thick voice echoed in the club, despite the noisy music. "P-please d-don't hurt m-me anymore. A lady with dark auburn hair approached me with cash to go after this lady. Apparently, she had taken some aphrodisiac so she could have fun with a guy." The man responded, and I gritted my teeth against one another, suddenly rubbing my thighs together as it hit me. That b***h, Tia, had drugged the shots she had offered me, but when? How? Did she plan it with the bartender? But this had never happened in my past life. As I was still pondering for an answer, I then remembered a tiny detail I had missed in my overconfidence of being alive and controlling my fate now. How could I have been this forgetful and stupid? Yes, I love to drink, but I didn't drink anything during the bachelorette party then. Tia had advised me to drop my drinking, so I would attract Dane's attention and I listened. During the conversation we had then, it was a glass of water that was with me while she drank with me, envying her but consoling myself with the thought of Dane fancying me once he had gotten to know that I had dropped drinking for him. "Oh shut up! But the lady was resisting, and you still kept trying to touch her." I watched as the familiar, golden-brown-haired man kicked the guy to his stomach before stepping hard on his hand. The guy screamed, panting heavily as he tried to push him off. "No please. The auburn-haired person told me to expect rejection, but not to stop because this lady liked it rough." He yelled, and I now wished I had slapped that w***e, Tia, when I had the chance. How could she have stooped this low? "Next time, do your research well." He made to kick him again when I suddenly dashed forward and stopped him by holding his hand. Like always, he flinched from my touch and I smiled. "Mikahali, it's alright. He was misled. Let it go," I told him and he turned to look at me. My heart pounded heavily against my chest as my eyes met his emerald, grey orbs. "Alright, let's go then." He led me out of the club, into the garage, where my car was parked. "Should I let him know about this or not?" Mikahali asked, not looking at me and I chuckled. "You and I both know he wouldn't care," I answered, and Mikahali widened his eyes at my words, not expecting such a response from me, and I knew why. Back then, I had always refused to admit that Dane didn't give a damn about me. "Did he hurt you again?" Mikahali scowled and I shook my head sideways. 'I wouldn't give him that chance again,' I thought as I stared at Mikahali Whitmore, my soon-to-be brother-in-law.
