Chapter 9: Change of Plans AVELINE The next morning, I woke up with the sun almost blinding my eyes, even though my curtains were tightly closed, and my hands looked like they had frozen from lying in one position. This was the first time in how many years I had slept this much. I slowly rose from the bed, trying to stretch my body, a yawn slipping out from my lips. I looked at the large window; even with the curtains on, the sun still found its way to slip in. I decided to have a quick shower and prepare for the day. As I stood by the mirror, brushing down my hair, it dawned on me that it's been ages since the last time I brushed my hair. I had always been working and never resting. I looked around the room again, still wondering if this place was really for me or if I was dreaming. J
