Chapter 5: A Monster's Offer
Then I saw someone approach me; she gently tapped me on the back, and when I turned, I was shocked to see a stranger; she was so beautiful and looked regal.
"My name is Christy, and I'm from the Crescent Dominion pack. I am the head Gamma. I think we need to take you out of here and perhaps attend to you before we leave," she said, holding my hands gently as she dragged me out of the room where they were now talking about the pack's politics.
The moment I stepped out, I was shocked to see the hall packed with at least ten different members of the Crescent Dominion pack, and they all looked intimidating with this aura of power, but not compared to the alpha in any form.
I didn't know where we were going, but I followed anyway, and then we entered a room; it was one of the VIP visitors' rooms kept for high-profile visitors in the pack.
I had never been in any of these rooms, even before becoming an outcast in the pack.
"The Alpha King demands you stay here until we leave immediately," she says, giving me a nod, and then she walks out.
I stared at myself in the mirror; my eyeballs were so evident. I looked so malnourished that I wondered why the alpha king had even accepted me to be his bride. Even though he'd reject me at one glance, seeing how weak and pathetic I was, my mind wandered off to that moment we had, that little moment that made my legs shake and my heart race.
I felt my cheeks flushed red at the thoughts, and just then, I saw the door opened and someone walked in.
When I turned to look at the door, I was shocked to see Ren standing by the doorway, and he looked like he had been crying all night. I quickly walked towards him, my eyes already feeling glassy as I crushed his firm body against me, hugging him with so much passion that I felt I was going to lose him. Yes, I was going to lose him, the thoughts purely forming in my head.
"I will miss you so much, sister, so f*****g much," he whispered as he held onto me tightly, and I found myself breaking apart at his words. I'd miss him too; there was no denying it.
Then slowly, I untangled from him.
"Please promise me you will be a good kid and stay away from pack troubles. Promise me, please."
He nodded rapidly as I tried cleaning the tears in his eyes.
"I promise to be a good kid and make you and our…our parents proud," he whispered, his words making me smile, and then I hugged him again.
"Once I see how the pack is, I promise to bring you over," I said. I wouldn't risk bringing him to a pack that I've heard is quite dangerous.
He nodded, his eyes brightening at my words. I knew it wouldn't be easy to leave him here alone, but he had more hope than I; at least the pack respects him and considers him more honorable since he has a wolf.
Just then, the door kicked open with force, and I was stunned to see Desmond standing by the doorway, his eyes burning into mine as he glared at me, but the moment he saw Ren, he gave him a little smile.
"Hello, Ren, how are you doing?" he said. f**k, I felt like I should wipe off that smile from his face.
I felt Ren's hands tighten around mine, and I knew he might do something outrageous, so I stopped him.
"Don't worry, Ren, you can go; trust me, I'm fine," I said. He stared at me, doubting my words, but I gave him a quick nudge as I held his hands for a second, assuring him, and he nodded and left the room.
The moment he stepped out of the room, Desmond's eyes returned to their previous glare, and I felt myself swallow up spit. I was no match for an alpha, especially being a proclaimed omega.
"You won't last a week in the Alpha King's pack," he said, not expecting his words. I brought my eyes down as I nervously played with my fingers.
Just then, I felt him approach me, and quickly, I felt my wolf whimper inside me. She also looked petrified. I haven't been able to speak to her since she awoke, but I didn't like the fact that she looked so scared of him right now.
"What do you…want?" I stammered, stepping back as I glanced at the door, hoping someone would barge in and save me from this maniac.
"I can save you from him. Say the word—that you want to be my mistress—and I will save your life, and you won't find yourself in that pack," he said, his hands suddenly finding my waist as he wrapped them around me, holding me so tightly. For once, I thought I would feel that bond, that connection between us, but that had been broken, severed the moment he marked me and rejected me as his mate. But now all I felt was disgust and this sudden hotness that didn't feel good—not the same as what I felt for him before.
"Let me go this moment." My voice came out weaker, less than I expected, and I saw him smile, his face now annoyingly inches away from mine as he bent down slowly, a little growl escaping from his lips.
"You haven't responded to my offer. Say yes to being my mistress, and I promise to take care of you and stop all this madness," he whispered. Now his face was on my neck; I could feel the breath of his nostrils flaring against the pale skin of my neck as I heard him inhale my scent, which for some reason sent a shiver through my body. I felt my body going weak against him—maybe because he had marked me and I was still hurt by his rejection, or maybe I was a weakling like always, allowing everyone to stomp on my face.
"Why don't you let me take care of you, and we forget about marrying you off to the cursed alpha? He will rip you apart before you can even think of breathing," he said. Now his tongue was gently trailing along my neck, slowly, and then it stopped at where my mark was. I felt my legs almost go weak the moment it touched my mark and sucked on it. Suddenly, I was feeling hot… not a good kind of hot that sets your heart ablaze, but rather a type that felt like my skin was being ripped apart. That was all I needed to push him off me, my actions catching him off guard as I glared at him, my heart hammering hard and my rib cage feeling as if it had tightened with anxiety.
"f**k off. I would rather become a bride to the cursed alpha king than become your w***e. You are so disgusting," I said, not knowing where I got the strength from. But I saw his eyes flare with a sort of anger I'd never seen before, and then he took a step toward me, his hand raised. I braced myself, ready to take the hit as always, but the door rammed open, and Desmond froze, his hand hanging in the air as he stared at who was at the door.
My heart instantly went into some sort of spasm as I stared at the Alpha King.
Those silver eyes… God, those eyes—found mine immediately, holding me captive like I was the only thing in the room. Slowly, deliberately, his gaze traveled down my body, taking in every detail of my disheveled white dress, my flushed skin, and my trembling hands. The way he looked at me wasn't like the hungry, disgusting way Desmond had. This was different. Intense. Like he was memorizing every inch of me, and for the first time… I couldn't grasp what those stares meant.
When his gaze finally returned to my face, lingering for just a heartbeat too long on my lips, I felt heat flood my cheeks. My breath caught in my throat, and I couldn't look away even if I wanted to. There was something in those silver depths… something that made my wolf purr with satisfaction instead of cowering in fear.
For a moment, just a moment, I thought I saw his jaw tick, like he was fighting some internal battle.
Then reality crashed back as he slowly turned to look at Desmond, who had quickly straightened himself and bowed deeply to the Alpha King. The moment his attention shifted away from me, the temperature in the room seemed to drop ten degrees; something had changed about him the moment he stared at Desmond, which made him look even more dangerous, and I felt my wolf howl at the sudden surge of energy, and again, I tried to push her down. I wasn't sure why she was trying so much to make her presence known to the alpha king when she never even tried that with our own rejected mate
