21 ‘Theodore Pendleton,’ he answered. ‘Mr Pendleton, this is Erin McCabe. I understand you called looking for me,’ Erin replied. ‘I tried to reach you three times this morning.’ ‘Yes. So I’ve heard,’ she replied. ‘Unfortunately, judges take a dim view of me returning phone calls from their courtroom.’ ‘Are you trying to be sarcastic?’ he fired back. ‘No. Not trying at all.’ There was a noticeable pause. ‘I’m calling to warn you to stay away from my client unless you want an ethics complaint against you.’ ‘Are we talking about Ann Parsons, Mr Pendleton?’ ‘Who else would we be talking about?
