Killian’s pov Rain poured through the shattered roof of the warehouse, crashing against the rusted metal like gunfire. The storm outside raged violently, thunder shaking the walls while water pooled across the concrete floor beneath Killian’s boots. Above him, Nicholas smirked from the second-floor platform, his were eyes gleaming with arrogance. “You really should learn to protect your shipments better,” Nicholas said mockingly. Killian’s eyes blazed with anger, he clenched his fist, glaring at Nicholas. He wanted to wipe that smug smirk of his face. Nicholas spread his arms slightly. “What happened, Killian? Losing your edge?” Tension thickened the air like a storm waiting to explode. “You know,” he continued with a cruel grin, “maybe it's because you're distracted. Your focus is elsewhere on a specific person." Killian went still. He knew, Killian thought to himself. Nicholas somehow found out about Evangeline. All this while Nicholas had been keeping an eye on him and Evangeline as well. "A specific girl that cannot speak." Killian’s grip on the gun tightened. "Leave her out of this," Killian warned. "Or what?" Nicholas mocked. "What are you going to do? Kill me?" Killian slowly lifted his gun and aimed it Nicholas. "I will," he murmured. Bang. The gunshot exploded through the warehouse. Nicholas screamed as the bullet tore straight through his leg, blood spraying across the railing as he collapsed hard onto one knee. Chaos erupted. Gunfire exploded from both sides almost immediately. The warehouse became a warzone. Killian’s men opened fire with brutal precision while Nicholas’s men scattered for cover, bullets ripping through crates, metal beams, and windows. Sparks burst violently from the walls as rounds slammed into steel. One of Nicholas’s men was thrown backward by a shot to the chest. Another collapsed screaming, clutching his shoulder. The deafening sound of gunfire mixed with thunder and shouting. Killian moved through the chaos like death itself. He was calm, focused and lethal. He fired two shots at one of Nicholas’s men, they dropped dead. Nicholas hid behind the crates, gritting his teeth through the pain in his leg. "f**k!" he hissed, glancing at his wounded leg. The concrete exploded beside Killian as shots narrowly missed him, but he barely reacted. His eyes were locked on Nicholas and Nicholas saw it. He saw the murderous intent behind them. He knew Killian would kill him if he got his hands on him and it wouldn't be an easy death. Killian would torture him until he bled out. Fear finally crept into his expression and Nicholas turned and bolted out of the warehouse. Killian shoved aside a metal crate and immediately went after him but before he could step out of the building one of Nicholas’s men stopped infront of him, aiming his rifle at Killian. "Move and I will kill you," the man threatened. Killian pulled the trigger. The man fell to the ground with a bullet between his eyes. "When you want to kill someone you shouldn't hesitate," Killian whispered looking down at the dead body. Rain drenched him instantly as he stepped onto the street. The city street ahead glistened beneath flickering streetlights, thunder rumbling overhead as Nicholas sprinted desperately down the empty road despite his injured leg, blood trailing behind him. Nicholas glanced back and panic crossed his face because Killian was already gaining on him. Cars honked as Nicholas stumbled into the street, nearly getting hit as headlights sliced through the rain. He shoved past pedestrians, ignoring the terrified screams behind him. There was only one thing on his mind. He needed to run to get away from Killian. Killian never slowed. Rain streamed down his face, his coat whipping violently behind him as he chased Nicholas through the city like a predator hunting wounded prey. He noticed how the people stared at him as if were a psychopath running on the street with a gun in his hand and blood on his clothes. He didn't care, he didn't care what people thought of him. Nicholas ducked into a narrow alley and Killian followed immediately. The alley was dark, filthy and flooded with rainwater and shadows. Nicholas crashed into trash bins trying to escape, breathing raggedly as blood poured from his leg. Nicholas was trapped realizing there was a dead end. He was now cornered by Killian. Killian emerged from the storm at the alley entrance slow and deliberate. Like a predator hunting it's prey. Nicholas backed away fear etched onto his face. Killian’s gun hung loosely at his side as rain dripped from his dark hair and soaked clothes. A cold smile crept onto Killian’s lips. "What happened Nicholas?" Killian spoke, his voice dripping with mockery. "You got nowhere to run?" "f**k you!" Nicholas spat aiming his gun at Killian but before he could fire a shot Killian shot at him. The shot rang out, sharp and violent. The bullet tore through Nicholas’s shoulder, making his body jerk violently from the force of the shot. "You're going to pay for this," Nicholas grunted. Killian didn't say anything he just stood there calm and composed. He casually took out a cigarette, placing it between his lips and lit it. He took a slow drag from the cigarette before exhaling through his parted lips. "How?" he asked after a long moment. "When you're going to die right now." "If you kill me you're mute girlfriend dies," Nicholas smirked. Killian dropped the cigarette on the ground and rushed toward Nicholas, grabbing him by the collar and aiming the gun at his temple. "What the f**k did you just say?" The sharp edge of Killian’s voice cuts clean through the night air like a blade, making Nicholas flinch. "You-you kill me and the girl dies. My men have her." Rage roared through Killian, growing stronger with each beat of his heart. It felt like a weight crushing his chest, making it impossible to think straight, impossible to breathe. Evangeline she was in danger. The girl he cared about her life was now in Nicholas’s hands. The only way to get her back was to let Nicholas go and letting him go was going to be a mistake a big one. Nicholas didn't deserve to live, to see another day because if he did he wasn't going to leave Killian alone. "You're lying," Killian spat, narrowing his eyes. "I'm not," Nicholas replied. "I have proof," he added, pulling out his cell phone from his pocket. He showed Killian a picture of Evangeline tied to a chair and something inside of Killian snapped seeing Evangeline so vulnerable and defenseless. She didn't deserve this. He thought staring at the picture. She didn't deserve to be brought into his world, a person like her didn't fit in his world. She was too innocent, fragile and pure. "Tell your men to let her go," Killian demanded. "It doesn't work that way Killian. You let me go and then she goes unharmed." "Where do you have her?" Killian roared. "I'm not stupid to tell you that now Killian," Nicholas said smuggly. Killian shoved him onto the ground and immediately pulled out his phone. Colton answered within the first ring. "Nicholas’s men have Evangeline." "What?" Colton shouted over the phone sounding confused. "How the hell did that happen?" "The bastard was keeping tabs on me." "Where is she?" Colton asked. "The fucker refuses to tell me," Killian said, turning around to face Nicholas. "But don't worry I will get it out of him and send you the location," he said hanging up. "So," Killian began sliding his phone into his pocket. "Are you going to tell me where they have her or should I get it out of you?" "I'm not telling you anything." Killian’s jaw tightened. "Then we'll do it the hard way," he said, driving his boot directly into Nicholas’s wounded leg. Nicholas screamed as agony exploded through him. "Plea-please stop, it hurts," Nicholas whimpered Killian chuckled darkly as he dug his fingers onto Nicholas’s shoulder where he had shot him earlier on. Nicholas let out another agonizing scream as Killian pressed his boot hard onto his bleeding leg. Nicholas’s breathing became uneven, strained with pain. "Fine," he murmured, his breathing ragged. "I'll tell you."
