In Katerynoslav Province, not far from the former Zaporozhian Sich of the Cossacks, there is a settlement called Virny.
Recently the residents of Virny bought a schoolhouse in the neighbouring village. It had been a parish school. They began to move it. But the local priest began to fret and asked that the toilet be left behind for him…
The men replied:
“We’ll only take the boards away, and you can have the hole in the ground and what’s in it.”
In true Christian tradition:
‘Share what you have with your neighbour…’
The people are still very religious…
