MISFORTUNE
And so, an agricultural credit association was formed in the village. They hung out a sign and elected a board of directors. And the members of the association told the board:
“Work hard! Work hard, so we can lead a better life! Because credit is a big asset to a villager!”
And the board said:
“We’ll work hard! Because credit is a big deal to villagers! The Soviet government knows this too and provides large sums of credit. Don’t worry, we’ll work hard!”
“Work hard, comrades. The government may be playing its part, but don’t you fall asleep. Show some initiative, for without independent action we’re both done for…”
“Don’t worry, comrades, that’s what we’re here for, to show initiative.”
And the board set to work.
At the board meeting, the director says:
“I’m off to town
