Chapter 14

Chapter 14 Eva - 

Our combined forces killed all the remaining creatures that had been left behind. I saw Lilura and Tyr kissing and Aeden noticed and crossed his arms. I approached him.

“What you did to them was wrong,” I told him.

“The Seelie need a King and Tyr was the only heir. Do you really think he would have left her and become King?” Aeden asked.

“We will never know because you took away their choice. But you will have to deal with the consequences of your meddling soon enough.” I told him.

“What do you mean?” He asked.

“Turns out Lilura is immortal. I would apologize to her if I were you, I know that on occasion she holds a grudge.” I said and walked away.

I went to Kodan who was finishing ordering his SPS agents to begin clean up. 

“Are you alright?” He asked me.

“Yes, are you?” I asked.

“Yes, only tired. We need to get this mess cleaned up. We don’t need humans seeing this.” Kodan said.

“Right. Did any of your agents catch Jimmie?” I asked him.

“No, I didn’t know he was here,” Kodan said.

“I saw him, Let me ask my vampires,” I said and called them over. “Did any of you catch Jimmie?” 

"Yes lady Eva, he was running away camera in hand. What should we do with him?"

"Bring him to me I have a plan. Make sure you have picked up all his equipment and erased all footage of tonight."

Kodan and I walked to Lilura and Tyr. Lilura looked exhausted.

“Are you both alright?” I asked.

“Yes.” They both said.

“I think I am going to head home and rest,” Lilura said.

“I’ll drive you,” Tyr told her.

“Lilura.” I started and she gave me a look of understanding.

“I will.” She said to my unstated prompt to tell Tyr she is immortal.

"Before the two of you leave, we captured Jimmy would you be able to do me a favor?"

"Anything." Lilura stated quickly, Tyr nodded his agreement. 

After telling them my plan and wiping Jimmy's memory the two of them left and Kodan and I supervised the cleanup. Aeden and the fae already left leaving us to clean up the mess. I could see the edge of sunlight rising behind the trees, everything was finally clean up and Kodan and I headed back to my apartment. We were both tired but managed to get through the shower before falling asleep on my bed. 

The next morning Kodan got a text message that said to turn on the news. We got up and I turned on my tv. There was a news clip of Jimmy entering the cemetery mentioning a strange fog and filming it. The closer he got the thicker the fog became. The camera began to wobble a bit and his breathing could be heard. He began to mention he felt a weird sensation a ghostly presence emanating from the fog. As he got closer he bent over and aimed his camera at mushrooms and as he did that they released spores into the air. He jumped back falling to the ground and picked up the camera as he stumbled to his feet saying it wasn't fog but mushroom spores. He turned quickly and started aiming the camera in every direction saying he was seeing ghosts he began running. And saying demons were chasing him turning the camera behind him showing nothing there. Then a street light appeared in front of him and he started yelling at it to save him from the demon. As an angel it would have to protect him. He sat under the street light until a man came out of his house to see what the screaming was about and called the police. That was where the video ended.

The news casters appeared on screen again. "As it turns out the famous ghost hunter Jimmy found a massive field of psychedelic mushrooms growing in the graveyard. Experts believe the spores infected the surrounding neighborhoods and that's what started all the ghostly encounters and claims." 

Kodan wrapped his large muscular arm around my waist and kissed me on the cheek. "You are a genius."
