What Anthony was unaware of was his smile. It had slowly twisted from charming to something similar to a vicious sneer.
Jewel saw the expression and held up her hand, taking a step back. Whether it was out of fear or the need to keep his hands off of her, she wasn’t sure. “I’m here Anthony, but you have to keep your end of the bargain and let Micah go.”
Anthony stopped a good yard away from her and gazed longingly at his lovely tarnished bride. By the tone of her voice and the way she had spoken Micah’s name so pleadingly, he knew she hadn’t been forced into mating with a cougar… she had wanted it. He slowly nodded his head and strolled past her toward the door.
He glanced over his shoulder and saw the obvious relief on her face… it only made what he was about to do that much sweeter.
