Chapter 4

The fifth century AD, Europe

Strands of daylight struggled to sneak into the heart of the dense and intertwined forest, and in the dark corners of this forest, rituals of black magic and devil worship were held by the witches of Europe in the Middle Ages. Those who were caught were burned alive by the church. A woman stood in the middle of the forest in the center of a circle, under her, a black cat soaked in its blood. She began to chant, I come to you with my left hand extended, and in my right hand, non-human blood. This flowing blood is like fire in the forests from your obedient servant. She raised her head to the sky, her face filled with evil and terrifying eyes. Yes, it is Ariana Raibot, the greatest witch of the Middle Ages, nicknamed the Daughter of the Devil, practicing her magic using many strange tools. Here in her grim and dilapidated home, one finds a collection of bird feathers, a raven s beak, and goat s wool. Ariana was a symbol of sorcery and magic, a mistress of magic and its arts. A group of witches gathered at her home to learn sorcery and the rituals of drawing closer to the devil. She was the first to use cats in magic, as cats are among the most important animals and were the focus of many ancient legends. They were revered in ancient Egypt, where they would even mummify them and bury them with the corpses of the dead to protect them from evil spirits. Just as they were revered in ancient Egypt, they were cursed in the Middle Ages because they believed they were evil spirits sent by the devil to assist witches and sorcerers it is said that cats can communicate with other worlds, this is from the perspective of the ancients. As for now, who among us has not heard the advice not to tug the cat’s tail or harm it at night—it could be one of the angels or perhaps a devil! Black cats are always considered a bad omen among many peoples and are seen as wandering demonic spirits! Cats remain one of the most mysterious animals, as they are used in satanic rituals as well as the ceremonies of witches and sorcerers. Some sorcerers use certain invocations and spells to summon what is called the spirit of the cat to fulfill their purposes, and every part of the cat is used for different magical purposes, even the internal organs of the cats—where if the cat’s entrails are dried and mixed with certain things, it is said to help remove the veil that prevents humans from seeing the jinn! And the cat s liver, if heated with the recitation of certain spells and dripped into the eye, allows seeing in the dark, and the cat s ear is used in some spells for obedience! Therefore, Ariana always gave cats special attention; she had a large number of cats in her house, and above all, Ariana harbored hatred for humans and the townsfolk, especially so she used all her evil to destroy the townsfolk, even the small children in the village were not spared from her wickedness before the church and the townsfolk revolted against her, and she was burned inside her house, with flames engulfing the rest of the house, and the aftermath of her death was a thick cloud of black smoke in the village for three days, during which her screams could be heard at night. After that, Ariana’s glories ended forever, and her house was used as a pyre for anyone involved in witchcraft from the area, whether the charge was proven or not. Therefore, if you want to end someone’s life, try accusing them of witchcraft, for they will never escape death because they have unjust and oppressive tools to verify that you are not a sorcerer, which is to throw the witch in the middle of the sea; if she drowns, she is innocent and pure of witchcraft, but if she tries to swim and comes ashore, she is a witch and will be burned alive. This means she must die either by drowning or by burning.
