A friend
Hmm.
A friend is someone you trust, care about, and enjoy spending time with.
Is that what I’ll say Olivia is? I don’t even know her last name.
Originally I thought she was trying to get to my brother through me and once she sees how we are, she’ll get off my back. But I guess the stone name is so influential that it kept her by my side pretending to care for me.
She is always oblivious to my non reacting side and I was curious as to what her motive was. And it wasn’t like her family wasn’t doing alright, most of the kids that attend this school are influential kids but there’s ranks that our inheritance gets us.
Andrew and I were one of the most influential kids, we’re second generation wealth and stand in line to inherit a lot while Olivia is the fourth child of a third generation wealth; her father was the third son.
She clings by my side clicking her high heels to the floor making her presence known as usual. She thinks all the boys lust after her which might be partly true but she’s just all delusional thinking everything revolves around her.
‘Echo after school, my cousin, mark offered to take me to Sephora to go shopping and have fun, will you love to come with’ she said trying to link our hands together.
I let her but didn’t reply.
She already knew I won’t be going anywhere with her.
The bell rang signaling our first period.
I pulled my hand from her getting to my class and picking a seat by the window, she sat at my front.
I tend to space out a lot mid classes but they don’t seem to mind, I was after all the top of the class and nobody would want to get in bad blood with my family.
Like they would care.
During lunch, I sat alone till Olivia came and joined me.
Today was different, they kept murmuring and staring between me and Andrew.
Had grandfather died or something.
I was getting creeped out at this point so I disposed my remaining lunch and walked out of the cafeteria and went to the library to read some books.
Finally it was closing hours and I couldn’t be more glad, I packed all my necessities in my bag and headed to the car.
Andrew was already there.
‘You’ve been riding a lot with me lately’ I told him.
‘It’s just today, echo’ he replied
Well just today has been uncomfortable.
‘What was lunch about?’ I asked.
‘Apparently there’s this scandal that fathers cheating on mother with his secretary and it’s causing stocks to deplete’
It wouldn’t be a shock that Father will cheat, he always had eyes for good things hence why he married mother and he’s barely home.
But for it to cause his precious stocks to deplete , he is going to be furious, I’d be surprised if that secretary still has her job.
‘I don’t believe the world thinks men like us can ever commit to one woman, I mean it’s not even their business what we do’ he continued.
It’s a typical thing for him to say, girls treat him like he’s the crown prince of some great kingdom and he has let it get to his head.
We got home and I headed straight for my room.
I freshened up and got in some comfy clothes.
I decided to get some snacks to much on.
One my way down, I noticed the nervousness of some maids, fuzz going around, they were being too detailed.
After I heard the loud voice of my mother coming from the living room, I had confirmed my suspicions.
Father was home…..
