Epilogue The Circle Line on the London Underground was busy, even though rush hour was still a while away. Tube trains buzzed in and out of stations, wheezing their strange electrical noise as they hissed and fled down dark tunnels. Commuters hung around in the doorways of moving trains. They swayed calmly in the motion, ready just to leap onto the platform and continue their familiar journey on another train, or make their way up to the fresh winter air above. The metal rails were coloured yellow and the seats and fittings were bright and fresh looking. Gone was the tired carriage of a quarter of a century ago, where two confused and lonely teenagers momentarily connected in a single glance.
