The housekeeper was quiet and subdued for the rest of service and the kitchen girls and waitresses were relieved. The receptionist gossiped that Logan went into the office with Leslie and slammed the door on his way out. “I wonder if he’s finally put her in her place,” they pondered. “I don’t know. There wasn’t any shouting,” the receptionist concluded and they all sighed. “Mind you,” one of the older women said slyly, “Mr Reuben never needed to shout to let you know when he was pissed at you.
