For My Best Friend

"I ..." Corale opened her mouth a little, then closed it again because she was still hesitating. "You don't have to push yourself if you can't," Gael said softly, hiding his disappointment. "No, it's not like that," Corale argued weakly, "I just wasn't sure if I could get close to you." "How about you give it a try?" "What?" Coral didn't think that Gael didn't understand the situation, she was about to protest but he had already returned to his room, taking out the long plank they usually used to cross over the balcony so they could play together secretly, "Hey, you're not afraid the wood will break because of your weight?" Gael was also worried about that possibility too, but his strong desire to chat with Corale again was greater, overcoming his fear. After all, the distance between their balcony is not far, he is also an adult so his steps are bigger than when he was a child. After all, Corale had previously been able to use the same wood to meet him secretly, surprising him in the early morning, which ended up almost making love. The weight difference wasn't too far, Gael was increasingly sure he would be fine. Corale watched intensely from below. Seeing Gael start walking on the plank, her heart turns into a dilemma again as to why he did that far to talk to her, when they could do it tomorrow. Could it be possible that Gael would beg her to rethink their relationship? Gael didn't say anything until now, but it could be, right? He wanted to talk about their relationship up close so he could see if it was a lie or not, something he used to do to test people, including herself. 'He actually came here ...' Corale turned nervous as soon as she saw Gael had managed to cross into her room, even giving a confident thumbs-up, indicating that her guess was wrong. "Ugh ... I can't believe you didn't use the stairs anymore." Corale didn't respond. Her anxiety grew even greater when she heard Gael's complaint. Then looked down hearing his grunt very close to her. Gael watched Corale hoping she would look at him, but as the seconds passed, there was no sign of what he was expecting. He smiled bitterly, how painful his existence made the woman he loved uncomfortable. He couldn't blame anyone, he the wrong one, "It's more comfortable now. We can talk normally without screaming." he started the conversation jokingly. Screaming? Corale wondered if her family overheard her conversation with Gael? Especially her mother who intends to bring food to her room. She didn't hear a knock on the door, so maybe her mother was still having dinner? Her parents didn't stop her from seeing Gael, they even told him to chase her, meaning her parents wanted her to quickly make up with him. She knew that her parents were as happy as Agnes when they found out their relationship had entered a serious step. Her parents even joked that it took a long time for her and Gael to confess to each other, because clearly in the eyes of her parents, their relationship is more than just best friend. The incident two weeks ago might have lowered the confidence of her parents a little, but it did not rule him out as a potential partner for her. "Are you still going to college, Corale?" Gael brought up another topic of conversation, refusing to give up melting her heart. He didn't expect much, he just wanted her to be comfortable with him again even if it was just a friend. Coral nodded slightly. Of course she still wanted to, but she didn't know where to start after Gael stole her money. "I'm glad you still don't give up, just like Corale I know," Gael said softly, "tell me when you'll start, then I'll pay you for college." "What did you say?" Corale asked doubtfully, unsure of what she was hearing. Gael gave a tiny smile finally Corale looked up at him, "What? I used your money, obviously I have to pay back to you even if I can't do it all at once." "But ..." Gael quickly cut off Corale's conversation, "You can't possibly raise any more money. How many more years do you want to wait? No need, I'll pay all your money back." Corale pursed her lips tightly, agreeing with what Gael said was true. She had already delayed for two years, should she delay another two years? Of course deep down she couldn't. She deserves her money back. But there is one more problem, "What about you?" she asked worriedly. "Me? You don't have to worry about me, Corale," Gael tried to get rid of worry in Corale's heart, he even flashed a big smile to make it more reassuring, "Just focus on yourself. It's my fault, you just have to study hard." "You're going to take two more jobs, aren't you?" Corale guessed. She didn't like the idea. Gael had previously worked in two different places, and his body couldn't take it because of his messy eating and sleeping schedule, he fell sick. That was when Gael was still in school. Now he is studying in a place quite far from his home. His body will respond even worse. "Corale," Gael called out emphasizing his words, "what matters to me right now is seeing you succeed as a Doctor." "I don't want to," Corale still rejected Gael's idea, "I don't want you to get sick again." Gael was touched to hear that, his heart that had been feeling tight and aching felt better knowing Corale still cared about him, "Then how about you study in Strasbourg too? Live there with me?" "What?" Studying in Strasbourg? And again living together ...? Corale's cheeks burned at the thought of them living together. Thinking of all the possibilities that could happen. Gael previously said that he would gladly accept being her friend again, but who knows someone's heart ...
