Candice, or Candy as she was affectionately known was what you could call eccentric, a person who never quite fitted in. A somewhat reserved person until you got to know her. Perhaps you could call her an introverted extrovert. She carried a weirdness about her but it never bothered her because she knew she was born to stand out. She had no problem dipping her feet in her campus fountain. The stares of others never really bothered her. Fire that ran through her veins gave her the impulsiveness that often brought on regret afterwards. She was meant to shine often that proved difficult seeing as she was shy on the inside and only could be her authentic self when she was comfortable with someone.
Candy was a sweet natured person who cared deeply for other people and loved animals.Growing up on a farm meant open spaces, fresh air and most of all meant that she could have as many animals as her parents would allow. So it was no surprise that she at one point had three dogs living in unison with her three cats.
Her mother, though loving and caring preferred her brothers over Candy but that never bothered Candy much because her father doted on her. She was his only daughter, his last born the reason why they had even tried to have another baby.
Her parents, though loving were extremely strict. Candy didn't fer to experience much of your typical teenage years. Having older brothers also didn't make things easier. She was never allowed to go out with friends nor have sleep overs.
Growing up in a Christian household she was taught from a young age that she simply was absolutely not allowed to have a boyfriend. It was instilled in her that s*x was only meant for a husband and a wife. Although extremely curious about her sexuality she remained shy when it came to dating and relationships because she had been burned before. She foolishly trusted someone who didn't deserve her trust and had to learn the hard way. Boys were simply not interested in a girl that wasn’t willing to give more. Guys her age wanted s*x and seeing as she was unwilling she wasn't given the time of day.
Even though she grew up with all these rules and restrictions, she had somewhat of a wild imagination and oh boy she had no clue what these wild thoughts would lead to. She read many books, some were x rated love stories which only led to an even more vivid imagination. Perhaps this is what scared her the most, what if she allowed herself to feel and experience these thoughts. She was taught from a young age that she should always so the right thing no matter what but whenever she was alone she couldn't help but wonder.
It all started with her deciding to attend a weekend church retreat for young people. She knew that there would be a many good looking guys there, but given her shy nature she doubted much would come out of it other than having a good time iverall. The previous night they had arrived late so there wasn't much interaction with the other groups other than a little time spent in prayer, supper and dorm room distribution. She was paired with the other girls from her church group. The girls were all excited talking non stop even after being given two warnings that it was time for lights out until they eventually fell asleep exhausted from the days event.
The next day as she walked into the first session after breakfast, there he was she couldn't help but notice him. Handsome, dark hair, glasses, milk chocolate skin. Standing in front, confidence evident as he spoke. Dressed casually in a black Adidas shirt and track pants and sneakers. He was handsome but nerdy kind sort of like Clarke Kent when he wasn’t saving the world. There was something about him that she just couldn’t place a finger on but she was intrigued by this captivating man who stood out in his own unique way. Candy couldn't help but notice his lips, they looked like they probably tasted good. She quickly shook that thought out of her mind. What was wrong with her??
As she listened to him speaking in the group discussion she couldn't help but notice just how intelligent he soubded which was a turn on. She once again tried to shake the thought out of her mind Candy couldn't tolerate idiotic men this man seemed to tick all her boxes but there was just one problem, he would never notice her because of her shyness around strangers. She observed him that weekend admiring him from a distance, drooling internally but never having the courage to strike up a conversation. She was fire but only to those she was comfortable with around others, she was a complete introvert at the time.
Before she knew it, Sunday had arrived, the retreat was over and they had to leave. Even though the retreat was over and she had settled back into her routine,campus,part-time job, churchshe still couldn’t get this handsome man out of her mind so she did what most master stalkers would do, she asked someone she was friends with who went to the same church for information on him. Soon she was given a name and a number. Contemplating whether to fight the urge or text she decided to text. She had nothing to lose. Furthermore, texting him would be easy as opposed to having a face to face conversation with him. She bit the bullet and sent him a text not knowing if she would even get a reply back.
Looking back now, this decision would forever alter her brain chemistry but she had no regrets although she often did, due to her impulsive nature, she never regretted this because he had an impact on her like no other. She would forever be changed by this decision.
