Chapter 4

I was chewing on the last piece of my cupcake when I heard a cocky voice behind me. "You seem to get along with Marcus." "Well he's my mate," I said without thinking. Mike appeared in front of me and held me by the neck, causing me to choke on the cupcake I was eating and drop the other half in my hand. My gaze focused on Mike's untamed ones, "What are you doing?" I struggled to say. "Well I'm your mate too!" He yelled. I froze, unsure what he meant by that. Indeed, he was my mate too but he didn't seem to like me. Also, Marcus recommended I give Mike space. Wasn't that what he wanted? After some time, he released his hold on me and started to walk away. I sighed and stood on my feet, "Mike, wait," He stopped in his tracks and I walked over until I was standing in front of him. "We're mates alright, but if you're uncomfortable with me, I'm not about to force myself on you. Not to mention, I've seen you fight. Only a fool would get on your nerves for no reason." Mike grabbed the back of my hair and yanked me forward so our lips smashed into each other, sending chills everywhere up my spine. His lips were assertive and demanded for entrance. I couldn't resist him. His tongue tugged at my bottom lip making me feel weak in the knees. "Mike," I gasped into his mouth, making him pull away. He breathed in and out deeply and said, "I just want you to kiss me, like that. We don't need to have all that fake talk. It's all Marcus, not me." I gasped, my mouth parted from how stunned his lips had left me. "Mike—" "—Go to your room, the omega will prepare for you to be introduced to our pack." With that, he disappeared with the wind, leave me completely stunned like what the hell just happened? When I return to the room Marcus put in me when I was rescued by him and Mike, I saw that a maid was sitting there looking bored out of her mind. The moment I walked in, she noticed me which made me realize that indeed she was an Omega. Their senses did tend to be frail and less developed than other werewolves. "Luna," she said with a dazzling smile on her thin lips. I was surprised by the way she addressed me. "Luna?" I say hoping for a counter remark and she simply says. "Yes, Luna. The Alphas asked me to prepare you to be introduced to the pack officially." I swallowed. Alphas? "Didn't you know your mates were Alphas?" I had seen the strength of my mates when they saved me and I thought they were warriors, but they were ALPHAS?! Learning this made me feel a bit more at unease. If I carried on with my plan, that would not only mean me sacrificing the men ordained to me by the moon goddess for my own selfish reasons, that would be me tearing their pack members away from their Alphas and with no leader to rule them. That was too selfish I couldn't do it. "No," I attempted to walk away but the omega clasped her hands around my wrist. "Luna," She said, "I have no idea the reason but if you're having cold feet, it's normal, for every girl in the world. But you have to go through with this." "You don't understand," I said with a sigh. "Alpha Marcus has never been this optimistic since he lost his mate to the werewolves a few years ago." I bit my lip, "Yeah, he told me his first mate died a couple years ago but he didn't tell me she was lost to werewolves." The omega bowed her head, "That's because he blames himself for not protecting her enough." "But you're here now," the Omega said passionately, and I noticed that her eyes were brimming with tears. "I know you can heal him, make him happy again. And Mike… he agreed to wear a suit. This is the very first occasion he's agreed to be posh, himself. So please, don't disappoint the twins, don't disappoint your mates. They need you. This pack needs you, Luna." I sighed but then I gave in. We would just have to see what fate had in store for us wouldn't we? As I stood in front of hundreds of Red Crest pack members in my purple fitted dress, my heart raced with anxiety but I masked it by lifting my head up boldly. I cut the flesh of my hand after the others and let droplets of my blood flow into the bowl filled with the others blood. As it merged together, I felt a link connecting me with the pack members, and with Marcus and Mike even deeper. As the link fully sustained, Mike stepped forward in his clean fitted tuxedo next to Marcus and said, "My people, tonight, we welcome Dianna Kraken, Red Crest's newest member, and my brother's and I mate." The crowd broke into a fit of cheers and applause which made me feel more guilty for what I'd just done and gotten myself into. "Tonight we merry and celebrate!" Marcus said, and the joyful howls got even louder, plaguing me with a deep sense of anxiety. 'What the hell have I gotten myself into?'
