Devin POV
I got maybe three to four hours of sleep before heading back to the witch's cottage. I heard her moving about in there, so I knew I had not been too late. I could smell her from outside and she smelt good. Too good. He could feel her arousal from outside. Was that normal?
"Help her," said wisdom. "Make her happy."
"No, today we are observing. Figuring out if she is a threat."
"Pff," wisdom snorted. "She is our mate. She is no threat."
Devin thought differently as he watched her walk out of the house in a tight red dress that hugged all her curves. And they were good curves. He was ready to declare her breasts the most perfect size he had ever seen. Why had he not held them in his hands yesterday? Truly a mistake he was going to need to rectify. She jumped into her car and he followed. She had a little red Toyota, so she was quite easy to follow. When she got out of her car, she tore the bottom half of her skirt off. He could now see all of her long legs. He remembered how it felt to have them around him. Nope, stop that thought before you grab her and finish what you started yesterday.
She then let out her long beautiful hair. It was slightly curled in long waves. Next time he was going to wrap one of those strands around his fingers. Or just use it to hold her head in place while I pushed his c**k all the way down her throat.
He followed her into her office. Shouldn't she go home and change if her dress tore? Devin did not like the idea of her walking around dressed like this in front of others. With him alone it was perfect, but her office was filled with men. Was she auditioning males for a calender? What possible office could gather this number of males? He saw the company logo on the door and started to research.
The Magic Hat seemed to be site on which one could buy a lot of useless products. Not a single one seemed to be actually magical. A witch selling useless magical items? Why were so many people at the office of a magic shop where one ordered things online?
Devin listened to the conversations but stood outside the front door. The witch walked over and spoke to the receptionist.
"What is happening? Why are there so many people here?" the witch asked.
"They are here to discuss the merger, and that group over there are here pitching their products. 2 are here with complaints. One wants to make a large order for his magic school."
"Where is Eliza?"
"Oh, you have not heard? Has your phone been off all day, Erin?"
"I left it at work yesterday. Why? What happened?"
"Eliza got hit by a car on her way home from work yesterday. The board called and put you in charge until she came back. They expect you to give them regular updates about the merger and finances. They will be sending a guy here to help you assume the ceo position."
"Ok, so all of the people here are waiting to talk to me?"
"Yes."
"Ok, send in order first, followed by complaints. Next the merger and finally new products."
The orders and complaints meetings were fast and did not bother him much. Except that all men asked for her number. Orders guy made a pass by asking if he could: "Put her on the ordersheet?" Both complaint-guys asked if she "Wanted to make it up to them?" But the merger guy was where he really felt he was losing it.
"I am so glad to be working closely with you on this. I may need to ride your brain to make this merger work optimally. Why don't we start by going over the finances followed by reviews of the employees?"
"That sounds like a plan. Would you like them emailed to you?"
"No, I want you to read it to me and I want you to sit next to me on the couch while you do it."
I could smell she was feeling stressed about the situation. The stress was increasing. He could hear her heartbeat speed up. What was happening? Screw waiting outside. I walked in and told the woman by the counter the board had sent me to help Erin with her new position. I then walked into the room to find the merger boy with a hand on the upper part of her knee. I growled and looked with raised eyebrows between his eyes and his hand. He quickly got the hint and let go of her.
I linked with our Gama Holt and told him:
"I'm investigating a potential threat. I need you to find the person the board of the Magic Hat sent out to help their interim ceo and send him on vacation. I will be filling his role.
