I left the staff room still smiling after my presentation. I would really miss this place if I had to leave. Financially, I was fine. I had inherited money and could go quite some time without a job. But, I suddenly realized how important this place had become to me. My coworkers were my closest friends. I had fallen out of contact with all my old friends from school. I made some friends during my night classes in college but I lost touch shortly after the class was over. One might think Betty was angry with me, but I knew she wasn't. Admittedly, she would be quite certain I had somehow figured out her secret and revealed it in a cheeky way. She would definitely try to get me back. But mostly she was impressed I caught her and she would try to reveal my trick.
