"Let's get a divorce."
Emily Hart glanced at the man sitting regally in his chair, his expression stern and his eyes icy. Leaning against the wall, she croaked out "Jasper..."
In a clear cold voice, he replied, "What's the issue?"
His cold reply struck her right in the heart, but she managed to hold herself together, determined to hear his answer before breaking down.
"Jasper, did you for one day ever feel anything for me?"
Jasper raised his face and stared at her blankly.
"You know the answer. So why ask? Since you want to hear it from me, I will tell you. I never for once loved you."
Those words were like a thousand stabs to my heart. Before Emily could respond, Jasper stood up to leave the room. He lingered in the doorway, looking somewhat condescendingly at her.
"I will have my lawyer bring the papers for you to sign tomorrow. I expect you to leave this house in the next three days. Understand!" His harsh words cast a dark cloud over Emily. Without waiting for a reply, Jasper walked away.
Emily's desire and longing for him vanished, leaving only a sense of heartbreak. Jasper slammed the door shut, plunging Emily into despair. As expected, she could never win Jasper's heart, even after three years of marriage. They shared the same house, same bed, but felt like strangers.
Jasper's heart belonged to a model named Ivy Carter, his first love. Unfortunately, Ivy had a car accident and she was sent abroad for medical treatment.
Emily became Jasper's mate due to his family's insistence, and they were married, making her his Luna. Emily knew that Jasper still loved Ivy and it seemed impossible for him to forget her. During their three years in marriage, she hoped Jasper would one day love her but that never happened.
Nevertheless, Emily chose to marry him, believing that the mate bond was stronger than his love for his ex-lover. But it turned out she was wrong. The return of Ivy shook her world to his core.
