Chapter 3 - Exclusive for Each Other

1082 Words
There is no time and place where they can't be seen together. They are always with each other. That's why whenever people want to look for one, they just look for the presence of the other and they find them. The truth is there are so many guys who would love to get close to Lenette like Nicholas, but they can't because they are scared of him. Who would not be? His family is the richest in City Z and they occupy the highest political offices there. Not to mention that almost all professionals in his family hold the key positions in the establishments of City Z. In short, his family is not only rich and powerful but famous as well. In other words, nobody dares to fight with them as a family. With so many connections, they could easily turn the city upside down.      The best doctors come from his father's lineage while the well-seasoned lawyers come from his mother's. It is just that since Day 1, he has known that he has not inherited the brains of both lineage. He is just an average performer. Sometimes, he even wondered if he was adopted to the family or what. While he is surrounded by smart people in the family, he knows for himself that he is not one of them, let alone perform at par with them.     If it is true that there is always a black sheep in a family, he would not be angry if he is branded as one. He knows for himself that he is good for nothing compared to his family members' achievements. He is just a badass who drinks his frustrations out in a bar the whole day with friends, one who plays with women right and left, one who had no dreams and visions for the future. In fact, he is not supposed to be in law school if his father did not threaten to disinherit him if he did nothing with his life.      However, his whole life changed the moment he met Lenette. She was this type who carries herself in a dignified manner. She always behaved with refinement and class and a picture of a well-behaved lady. She has this kind of aura that is automatically seen in people of the elite class. Effortlessly, she brings out the endearment and admiration towards her from everyone who lay their eyes on her. She is pretty, but it is not just her physical appearance that makes her lovable. It is this unexplainable atmosphere surrounding her.      This is aside from her brain of course that can't be compared with anyone else in the campus. She is one kind of a smart and wise woman who knows her way to win in life. She was born poor but she does not possess the mindset of a poor person. Poverty did not kill her dreams let alone made her weak. Instead, poverty made her strong and regal in nature. Amazingly, the hardships she experienced in life made her shine as bright as the stars.      Although she is experiencing stress and challenges at work during the daytime, those can't be traced on her appearance when she enters class on the nighttime. She seems to know how to preserve her sweet looks and smart aura. She ranks on top of the class in major exams, and she never falls short of answers during recitations on case assignments, performing far beyond the full-time students in the school of law.      Maybe this is the reason why he was drawn to her. For an unclear reason, he feels that his life revolves around her. Hours without her at his side feel boring and dry. Well, he has to pass the requirements of the curriculum though so he pressured himself to read during the day while waiting for her to come to school. Literally, he goes to the library to read in the morning and afternoon and painstakingly wait for her there. When she finishes her work and comes, that's the time that he focuses his attention on her, attending to her every need.      It is not hidden from his knowledge that there are so many guys ogling for her glance let alone her attention. That's why he sticks to her like a glue. Literally, he guards her the moment she steps into the campus without her knowledge. How can she notice anyway when all her focus and attention are towards her books and case digests?     "Um! Um!" he coughed lightly.     Lenette, who was sitting beside him and seriously reading cases, turned her head to look at him with concerned eyes.     "Are you alright?" she asked and softly patted his back.     "Yes," he answered. "It's nearly midnight already. I should send you home now," he continued.     "Okay," she replied after glancing at her wristwatch quickly. "Time is so fast." At this, she picked up her backpack and started putting her books inside. He did the same and after a few minutes, they are ready to go home. He held her hand and led her outside slowly as they traversed the alley back to the main road. Anyone who would see them at that sight would think that they are a couple because they resemble one. By the way they behave and the way they give time to build their relationship, they look like a couple.      However, that is not the case in the eyes of Lenette. For her, wholesome relationship or pure friendship between a man and a woman, in itself, is good. It does not need to be romantic. She is this type who knows her priorities in life and love is not one of them for now. She believes that she is not ready for love now. That's the reason why she dedicates all her time and effort on her work and studies inspite of the guys who are trying to woe her.      "Thank you for sending me home," she turned and said to him when they reached her apartment.     "Oh, don't mention it," he blushed as his mind was brought back to reality. He has been thinking deep about life while he was with her tonight. "It is a pleasure spending time with the smartest and prettiest lady of the campus."     "Did I tell you that I was lucky to have you as my friend?" she teased back.     "Well, you just did," he responded.     "Hahahahaha!" they both laughed loudly.     Both of them separated with gladness in their hearts that night.
