Mira woke in the soft light of dawn.
But it wasnβt the Elderglen forest. It wasnβt even the ruins of Hollowspire.
She was lying on the edge of a familiar forest. The scent of pine and damp earth filled her nose. She blinked, sitting up.
Home.
Her heart thudded in her chest. The world around her was exactly like the one she had left, but different. There was a softness to it, a quietness, as though the war in her world had been paused, held in place by something invisible.
Cael stood nearby, his face pale, his clothes tattered, but he was no longer consumed by shadows. The light from the broken mirror glowed faintly around him, a shield against the darkness that had once claimed him.
βIt worked,β Cael said, his voice raw. βWeβre... here. Both worlds.β
Mira looked around, confusion and hope mixing in her chest. βButβhow? The mirror shattered. It collapsed. The worlds were splitting apart.β
Cael nodded slowly. βThe mirror shattered. But it didnβt break everything. The light you brought through, the light we both chose... it healed the fracture between the worlds. Not by erasing them, but by merging them.β
Miraβs map, still in her hand, pulsed softly as the last of the ink faded away. No more paths. No more directions.
βThis is it,β she said quietly, understanding now. βThe worlds are connectedβbut not destroyed. The balance was found.β
A soft breeze stirred the trees around them. A sound like a sigh of relief seemed to echo through the forest.
βWhat happens now?β Cael asked, stepping closer.
βNow,β Mira said with a quiet smile, βwe rebuild.β
