The sky shimmered with soft gold as Mira stood at the border where Elderglen and her world gently bled into each other. Trees that once only grew in fairy tales now edged the roads near her village. Birds she’d never seen before—bright-feathered, singing in three-note harmonies—nested in telephone poles and treetops. It had been weeks since the Mirror shattered. Or had it been days? Time didn’t work the same anymore. People had started noticing strange changes. A boy in Mira’s school swore he saw a deer made of mist vanish behind the library. And not all of them stayed broken.” Her breath caught.
