Seraphina sat across from Blaze at the long wooden table, books and papers scattered between them. The soft hum of the library’s lights filled the silence, but it did little to ease the tension that hung thick in the air. She focused intently on her textbook, trying to block out the fact that he was sitting just a few feet away, but the pull she felt toward him was undeniable. Her mind scolded her. Stay away from him. He’s trouble. She’d told herself this countless times, but no matter how hard she tried, her eyes kept drifting over to him. Each glance was brief, stolen in secret, but they felt like an eternity. His dark hair fell slightly over his forehead as he concentrated, the tip of his pen tapping rhythmically on the paper. His presence was impossible to ignore. She exhaled quietly
