It had been weeks since I'd spoken to Jasper, but to his credit he'd given me space, and with a little more reluctance so did Serena.
I walked the halls, I'd gone from the most envied girl in school with Jasper and Luce wrapped around my finger to the most hated, for distancing myself from each of them.
I headed for my next class, it was math with Mrs york, Serena, stood with Amy and her cronies, the latter sneer at me, whilst I gave Serena an apologetic smile, I still passed them, heading inside.
Once seated, I lean back, closing my eyes, I took a deep breath.
"Wanna loosen a few button before you next breath..I'd like a better view of your chest.."I sighed looking to my right where Luce sat, waggling his eyebrows suggestively.
I threw a pencil at him.
"Shut up you perv!" I hissed, he saw through me, as he smiled, I couldn't help but do the same.
The bell rang and I looked to the door where Serena enter, she made her way towards her seat beside me, her gaze flickered to Luce, before looking accusingly to me.
I knew she'd felt hurt by my wish to distance myself from her and Jasper, especially since, I'd know them both my whole life, and I'd know Luce only a few months, but I could only look away.
Luce didn't bother me again for the remainder of the class, I only suspected he'd seen Serena's jealous glare.
I sat filling out my worksheet and my homework too, I handed them both in, and waited until everyone had left the class after the bell rang, I was surprised to find Luce and Serena waiting outside the classroom for me.
"You can't avoid me forever Cassie, what did I do? Or Jasper?" She pleaded, her eyes full of hurt.
I couldn't tell her about my dreams, I sounded psychotic, Luce seemed to understand in a way, I wasn't sure Serena would.
As for Jasper, he was another story again.
"I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed with school, and haven't been sleeping well, I needed some space, you know?" I keep my voice calm, but something catches Serena's eye and she stiffens.
"What is that?" She asks pointing to my chest, s**t I forgotten about the deep jagged scar that now ran across my collar bones, I didn't look down but clear my throat to answer.
"It's a scar, I was in an accident." I replied, Luce stood silently, he watched me not sure how I'd explain that one.
"What an accident when?! You don't have a licence?" She pressed her eyes wide, she gently pulled my collar back further, the scar widened and disappeared downwards.
"Now we know the reason why." I replied jokeningly.
Serena skewered me with her glare.
"Who were you with?" She pressed.
"No one worth mentioning." I replied, her eyes widened, she swapped her gaze to Luce.
"Where's you motorbike?" She asked, he shrugged before answering.
"Getting a service." His eyes betrayed nothing.
"Bullshit, If I find out you are the reason Cassie has that scar, I'll kill you." She threatened.
I stepped between them.
"Anyway I'm gonna head home before I miss the bus, I promise we'll hang out soon. But please don't tell Jasper about this just yet." I asked, but my heart squeezed and I could see by Serena's reaction, she was hurt by my plea but nodded.
I headed down the hall without another word.
I'd almost forgotten about Luce until he was beside me, the tears that feel were unstoppable, with a sideways glance he noticed them.
Pushing me into an alcove, he pinned me against a wall, he watched me when I finally met his eyes he lifted a hand from the wall, smoothing the tears from my eyes, he offered his embrace and I stepped into it, he smooth my hair whilst I sobbed.
I felt so torn, if the dreams weren't real, why had Luce and Gabe stepped into my life and I knew which side Jasper was on but what about Serena? I felt like I only had 3 pieces of 500 piece puzzle, I didn't want to jump to any conclusions yet.
Luce held me for a long time, until finally convincing me to let him drop me home, I let him lead me by the hand.
His bike as I suspected was absent, instead he lead me to a old Valiant Charger, he knew I loved cars so he grinned at my reaction.
"Two door, Vj V8 Charger, nice huh?" He said with a wink.
I ran my hand over the polished black paint, gold pinstripes broke the black along the side of the body, it was gorgeous, I gently pulled the handle, opening the door before sliding into the car.
The interior was black and gold, the bench seat black with gold piping, but the dash was accented with burgundy wood grain finished, it wasn't original but styled exactly as I would of chosen for a custom vehicle.
"I love it, this is yours?" I asked, looking to Luce who in turned watched me as I watched the car.
"Ahh kinda, I built it for a friend but I hadn't been able to present it to her yet." He replied, his eyes softening sadly.
"I'll be that friend when I get a licence." I answered, fluttering my eyelids, he laughed at that, shaking his head.
Turning the key she rumbled to life, another loud and exhilarating vehicle, I grinned grabbing the dash, as Luce revved the engine, the tyres squealed and smoke, we peeled out of the school car park as Metallica played through the radio.
I turned it up.
"For whom the bell tolls
Time Marches on..."
