Chapter 030: The Proposal Halvir lowered his gaze, disappointed, while Anindira looked at him with gentle eyes filled with mixed emotions. “Once again, Kak Halvir only heard what you wanted to hear...” Anindira's voice was soft, but full of meaning. Anindira could see how pitiful the handsome, imposing man looked as he felt rejected in front of her. “I said, if this were my world...” Halvir immediately looked at Anindira, waiting for her to continue. “In this world... I'm all alone. I don't know anything, and I'm very weak. Whether I like it or not, I'll definitely have to rely on you. Right now, all I can think is that I need your presence to survive. I don't know yet whether romance is part of that. But even so... is that okay with you?” Anindira laid bare her feelings, sincere and honest, as though she were pouring all her fears and trust into Halvir. “For now, that's enough...” Anindira's response only made Halvir even less willing to let her go. The cheerful girl who was always calm, innocent, and sincere was now sitting in his lap, strengthening his heart. “For now?!” Anindira exclaimed, smiling as she raised an eyebrow in challenge. “Yes, for now,” Halvir replied confidently, affirming that he understood what Anindira truly meant. “Alright, we have an agreement,” Anindira responded with a smile that finally began to ease her heart. “Thank you,” Halvir said, gently kissing Anindira's forehead. “You've been honest with me.” Anindira smiled sweetly, her heart fluttering warmly. That kiss, simple yet meaningful, touched her more deeply than any sweet words ever could. “Now, let's continue our journey to the Village Chief's house!” Halvir exclaimed as he lifted Anindira into his arms, his steps steady. “Okay!” Anindira answered cheerfully. “Ah...” Halvir suddenly exclaimed, remembering something. He paused for a moment and looked at Anindira. “Dira, this is about Zia...” “Kak Halvir, don't provoke me!” Anindira replied irritably, her cheeks flushing red. “That's not it, Dira. I want you to understand. Listen to me carefully... Since the day I brought you out of the *Forbidden Forest, I had already decided that I would become your mate. And about Zia... I know exactly who she is. She's the Village Chief's daughter. I've known her since the day she was born. She's like my own niece, nothing more!” Halvir emphasized every word, never taking his eyes off Anindira. “You need to know this: ever since I decided that I would be your mate, I have never intended to look at another woman!” Once again, that confession made Anindira's heart pound wildly, a mixture of relief and admiration. “You'll be staying under the Village Chief's care. So stop feeling anxious or upset about Zia. I only see her as the Village Chief's daughter. My niece, nothing more.” “Eum,” Anindira answered softly with a nod. Yet deep inside, she still wondered, what if...? The anxiety was not so easy to erase, considering how captivating Halvir seemed in her eyes. “Just 'Eum'?!” Halvir exclaimed, stressing his words. “I don't want you burdening yourself with thoughts about Zia! Zia is beautiful, yes, but you're the only one I see. There will never be another woman!” “Yes, alright,” Anindira replied, blushing. Her heart was beginning to feel secure, though a trace of unease still lingered. Even though the matter still weighed on him, Halvir felt somewhat relieved. He was certain that Anindira and Zia would eventually become good friends, and jealousy would not stand in their way. “Dira,” Halvir called, looking at her seriously as he continued walking, “I'm serious about my proposal. I know you're not ready yet... but give me your answer when I come back.” “Kak Halvir!” Anindira cried out in frustration, her voice almost trembling with tears. “You're still forcing your own wishes on me! I thought we agreed to wait for each other...” “Yes, we agreed. Two weeks, until I return from the Lion Kingdom.” “That wasn't part of our conversation!” “That's why I'm clarifying it, so you won't misunderstand,” Halvir stated firmly, looking straight ahead. “This is still forcing your will on me!” “No. I'm asking for your answer. Which part of that is forcing you?” “But you obviously want me to say yes!” “Of course. Why would I want an answer that would break my heart?” “You Beasts are so selfish!” “That's simply our nature,” Halvir replied with a grin, completely confident in himself. After that heart-to-heart conversation, they finally arrived at their destination. Halvir set Anindira down from his arms and looked toward a building built atop a massive tree trunk. “Village Chief!” Halvir called loudly, his voice echoing through the village grounds. “It's me, Halvir! I want to talk!” A few moments later, a tall and powerfully built man descended. His black hair resembled Halvir's, while his bright purple eyes gleamed attractively. His physique was well-proportioned, and his aura radiated both calmness and authority, as though every movement carried unwavering confidence. “Halvir, what's the matter?” the man asked, his voice calm yet alert. “Village Chief, this is Anindira,” Halvir said, gesturing toward her. “I found her in the forest three months ago. Now I want to leave her in your care for about two weeks. I need to travel to the Lion Kingdom and prepare some things for her.” The purple-eyed man studied Halvir carefully, examining every movement and expression. Anindira held her breath, surprised and captivated at the same time. She hadn't expected Halvir to introduce her personally. “So you've finally made your choice!” the man exclaimed sincerely, a warm smile spreading across his face. “Eum.” Halvir gave a short nod, confirming it without the need for lengthy words. “And now you're in such a hurry...” Halvir merely looked at him, his eyes conveying understanding without speaking. “I understand...” the man said before turning toward Anindira. “Anindira, that's your name...” Anindira nodded softly, an awkward smile on her lips. “I'm Mischa, the Village Chief. As he said, you'll be staying with me while he's away. You understand, don't you?” Anindira nodded again, making sure his words settled firmly in her mind. “Take good care of her. I'll return as quickly as possible!” Halvir stated firmly, his sharp gaze fixed on Mischa. “How unfriendly!” the man exclaimed with a broad smile. “I'm letting this slide because this is the first time you've ever asked me for help. At least greet me more often! I know you're strong, but do you really have to ignore me like that?” “Village Chief, are you complaining right now?” Halvir asked casually, suppressing a small smile. “Yes,” Mischa answered firmly, his brows slightly furrowed. “I'm complaining. Why?” “You haven't known me for only a year or two. I'd be disappointed if you misunderstood me...” Halvir's words were firm, but they also carried a subtle message aimed at Anindira. Lost in thought, Anindira was immediately jolted back to reality. Her eyes focused on Mischa before she realized that both Halvir and the Village Chief were watching her. “Anindira!” Mischa called, his voice gentle yet firm. “What's wrong? Is there something on my face that's bothering you?” “Dira!” Halvir gently grabbed Anindira's shoulder and gave it a slight shake. “Hah?!” Anindira exclaimed in surprise, her cheeks turning red. “Yes... what?!” “What is it?” Halvir asked again, staring intently at her. “Kak Halvir lied to me?!” Anindira blurted out, her brow tightening. “Me? When? And what did I lie about?” Halvir asked, bewildered. “Kak Halvir said the Village Chief is ninety-seven years old?!” Anindira whispered while half-shrieking. Village Chief Mischa cleared his throat softly, his voice calm yet perfectly audible. “Halvir wasn't lying. I really am ninety-seven years old.”
