“So… Nicholas is your mate?” Gabriel asked, snapping me out of my turmoil.
I blinked, pulling my attention back to the present. Gabriel and I were wandering through town, the familiar scenery passing by without much thought. Houses built around towering oak trees lined the streets, their wooden frames blending seamlessly into the forest around us.
Some liked to call it paradise. I called it a prison.
“Yeah,” I muttered, kicking a pebble that dared cross my path. “But the Moon Goddess refused to bless us.”
