Selene fell to her knees.
Before my eyes, her youthful beauty withered.
Her wavy golden hair dulled into brittle white strands, smooth skin creased into deep wrinkles, and her radiant glow dimmed to a sickly, ashy gray.
She stared at her trembling hands and released a piercing scream.
I wish I could say it was glorious.
But I couldn't. Not really.
Some stubborn part of me still ached for the girl she used to be, for the friendship we once had, for everything she’d chosen to destroy.
“Zeus… please,” she whimpered.
I tightened my grip on Nicholas’s hand.
“Enough, Selene,” Zeus said softly. “I will now erase your memories. You will not know why this fate has befallen you. That is the price of your schemes.”
Selene shook, hugging herself as if she could hold her world together.
