Laila POV We got lucky with a truck on the road. It would have been a long hard walk with Donald in a state like that. We got to town and he offered to take me along with him to the countryside where his parents lived, but I insisted on us going our separate ways. It would be much safer that way. He could be in danger if we're together. We got something to eat at a close by diner which we both regretted immediately. The look from the locals at the diner was unsettling, to say the least. I'm usually the last person in a room to stereotype people but this was terrifying. They looked at us like we were aliens invading their precious town. We couldn't finish the meal we got even though both of us were starving and on the brink of fainting but I felt that if we stayed longer, starving
