“What do you mean she’s gone?. Put Miss Ma on the phone right now”.
“She’s not at the house and nowhere in the city. We’ve turned everywhere and every house upside down but nothing. I think Mr. Leigh and Miss Laila must have left town”.
“Left town?”, I asked, my voice lower than before.
Who hired this man? And more importantly, who delivers a message like that?
“She’s gone!”
The word had frozen my entire body. I thought something awful happened to her but she just left town? My god! Miss Ma needs to fire him.
Maybe firing him is a big stretch. He could have a family he’s providing and even if he doesn’t, he needed the job to cater for himself but he needs to be trained properly.
