⌇ Chapter 1.5 Princess ⌇ ⌇The Heartlands⌇ A vast land of meadows and hills, with beautiful green grass and lush flora. The people of Aevahaven find this land the most rewarding when growing crops and grazing livestock. Bathed in sunlight, she appeared. Bright white crystals sat in her head. The Fire Lord's daughter sat on a rock, admiring her children. Her chestnut hair was long and silky, and hung just below her curved hips. She took her dainty hand and slowly pressed it against the blackened beast's nose. A gigantic creature he'd grown to be in only five years, and still he had much more to do. The sun bounced off his sleek black scales and red wing membranes. The gentle hue from orange to red was subtle, but beautiful. He had become quite large, and towered over his siblings. Blushfyre and Ashwing flew just afar, beside the rising sun. "He expects a lot from us, you know." She spoke softly into her dragon's ear. "He expects too much sometimes." She gazed up at the bright sun coming over the horizon, peering over the hills of the lush Heartlands. "Dragons have come back to life and all he wishes to use them for is war." She sighed and gently rested her head against his scales. He shuffled a little, but only to get closer to his mother. "You are no beast to me, Elyssor. You have grown from such a small, sickly thing into a giant - but you will always be my babe." She smiled. "Your Grace." A sharp voice called and startled the Princess. She jolted, which caused Elyssor to become protective - he bit and snarled at the man. Giant fangs hung over his mouth, and two rows of teeth sat just beside them. Drool dripped from his snarling teeth. The man held his ground. She knew him, of course, but her dragons did not. They would be unpredictable to a stranger this close. Blushfyre and Ashwing instinctively came at the call of their brother and perched on the ledge of the cliff, nipping and biting at each other. "Shh." She stroked his neck gently. "It's okay." "Your Grace." He called again, more timid than before. She turned to face him with a face of fire; for some reason she had become quite angry with the royal guard. "Why must you interrupt me?" She growled. The dragon's sensed her anger and inched closer to the man, as though there was some sort of tether keeping girl and dragon together. The man wore red armour with a sigil of a flame indented into the centre. He carried a large great-sword engraved with rubies. He was one of the three of her father's King's Guard. She'd met him before and they had conversed, but she'd learned over the years that when her father sent a King's Guard as a messenger, it meant something important. "Please, your Grace. I have been instructed to return you to the Rose Palace. Under orders of your father." His dark eyes kept wavering between the Princess and the dragon. He attempted to keep his tone, but the sight of Elyssor, Blushfyre and Ashwing set his nerves ablaze. The Princess calmed and held a hand to Elyssor's neck. "Relax, my dear." She got closer to the beast. "Fly, my love." The gigantic black dragon raised his wings into the air, and took off with a good jump on his back legs. The wings flapped together and almost knocked the guard over from sheer force. Blushfyre and Ashwing took a last look at the Princess before following their brother into the skies. The Princess smirked at the guard. "Do keep your balance, Ser. It's only a dragon."
