I pick out a few items of clothing, tossing them onto my bed before grabbing a hairbrush and running it through my long, dark hair. I've been in this wardrobe room for hours, but time has passed in the blink of an eye. There's something about being surrounded by my things, my clothes, my shoes, my accessories, that brings me a sense of comfort and security. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, feeling the weight of the world slip away from my shoulders, if only for a moment. I open my eyes again, feeling rejuvenated and ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. I can't help but get a sense of dread at the thought of tonight's party. I reach for a beautiful, pale pink floor-length dress made of tulle and lace. It's a classic, timeless style with a modern twist, and I feel like a princess as I slip it over my head. For tonight's party, I've decided to keep my accessories simple and understated. A pair of diamond studs in my ears, a silver bangle bracelet on my wrist, and a ring on my finger. They're small details, but they add a touch of elegance to my ensemble. I finish getting ready and step out of my room, feeling a sense of confidence as I descend the stairs toward the party. Tonight, Father won't settle for anything less than my best. I take a deep breath and step out of my room, feeling my heart pounding in my chest as I make my way downstairs. The air is filled with the sound of voices and laughter, the clink of glasses, and the smell of food and drink. I take a moment to survey the scene, taking in the beauty of the room, the elegance of the guests, and the excitement in the air. It's a sight to behold, one that makes me feel a little nervous but also excited. As I make my way toward the party, I can't help but feel a little overwhelmed. There are so many people here, so many things happening at once. But I take a deep breath and remind myself that I can do this. Tonight is a special night, a night to celebrate the alliance between my family and Rossi's. And I intend to make the most of it. The party was in full swing, and the energy was infectious. The music played on, and couples danced on the dance floor. I had come here with a purpose, though, not to dance. My eyes scanned the room, searching for Valerio Rossi. Everyone knew of him, some worshipped the ground he walked on, but not me. No, I saw right through him. As the crowd parted, and Valerio stepped into the room, everyone went quiet. I could feel the tension in the air, and my hair rose to attention on my arms. I narrowed my eyes, taking a moment to take in his appearance, his broad shoulders, his ruffled dark hair and ink travelling from my tips of his fingers, disappearing under his dress shirt that was rolled up to his elbows and ending at his neck where one singular button was left undone. His piercing blue eyes scanned the room, looking for someone. When his gaze landed on me, I knew he had found his target. I refused to flinch or break my gaze, determined to show him that I wasn't afraid. As Valerio made his way towards me, the crowd parted as if he were royalty. I could hear whispers and gasps as he approached, but I kept my eyes locked on his, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of taking his eyes off mine. When he was close enough to reach out a hand, I stood my ground, not moving an inch. I could see the surprise on his face, but I refused to let him shake my confidence. I had come prepared for this moment, and I intended to make sure he knew that I wasn't going to be pushed around. Valerio stopped just inches from me, and I could see him sizing me up, assessing me. He kept his expression unreadable, and his eyes were as cold as ice. "Diego, prendi la ragazza e portala a fare i lavori di casa." Valerio ordered, and I couldn't help but scowl at the dismissal in his voice. One of his men, Diego, turned to me, and I narrowed my eyes. "Why do I have to go?" I demanded, my patience with being bossed around already worn thin. "Mr. Rossi's orders," Diego said, holding out his hand. I raised a brow, and I took his hand. I had to keep a smile on my face, despite my mounting frustration. I knew this was just a test, designed to see how obedient and submissive I could be. As I left the party with Valerio's men, I couldn't help but wonder what he had in store for me.
