I watched them ride off before turning back to Freena. We continued to circle each other. She held her staff out to me in a threatening way whilst I held my loose and at the ready. I reached a hand up and undid the heavy shadow wolf cloak, letting fall to the floor behind me.
Freena had never been one of the most powerful of the King’s Blood, but she had learned early on that she had a knack for being able to actually control the dark hunters. She had never had much power other than that. Then one day she’d found a jewel, a jewel that amplified her powers and made her seem so much powerful than she actually was.
